Gary Calip was nominated by a student, Ramona Roberts.
Mr. Calip has been with Okmulgee Public Schools for more than 30 years. He has served as a teacher, coach, and now a principal.
"I attended OHS in the 80s, and he was teaching driver's ed and history and was the head boys basketball coach," said Roberts. "His basketball team won the State Championship title!"
He was a great teacher and mentor. He has a caring heart. He would always listen to his student's problems and assist in finding solutions. He would meet parents to make a connection or to let students know they better act right because he had a connection.
He is dedicated to the success of Okmulgee Schools! His parents and brothers were/are teachers!
He is married to his wife of many years, Mrs. Calip.
