John Garner was nominated by multiple students from his school.

"Mr. Garner has helped me so much this year," said a student. "When I walked into his class, I thought he'd be a regular teacher, but through the year, he's helped me so much by checking in if I don't feel well. He'll make you laugh, and he's probably one of the hardest-working teachers I've ever met. All he wants is for his students to succeed in life, and he's done that. He's brought so much joy to this year, and I just want to thank him for it!"

Coach Garner's influence on the students at Temple High School has been profound.

"Coach Garner was a completely new change for me when I first got into high school, but it was a much needed one. He pushed me a lot. I wasn't used to it in the beginning, but looking back on it, that push is desperately what I needed. He has pushed me and the rest of his students forward to success, doing everything he can to make sure that we succeed," stated one student.
