LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Sarah Thompson was nominated by her colleagues, Kate Melvin and Judith Kelly.

Ms. Thompson has been a LifeChanger to her students and colleagues around her. She is a beacon of light, and she shares that light with everyone around her.

As the Response to Intervention teacher, Ms. Thompson works with students on deficit areas to help them achieve grade-level standards. These students often have extenuating circumstances affecting their education. To be a LifeChanger, Ms. Thompson works to identify the root cause of the student's issue and works from there. If a student needs attention, a hobby, a tutor, a friend, and a mentor: she identifies their need and fills it. She develops trust and meaningful relationships with these students. 

Ms. Thompson also does this for her colleagues effortlessly. She teaches and serves her community, colleagues, and friends. This year Ms. Thompson completed her specialist degree in Teacher Leadership. Through this degree, she has been able to serve on the leadership team, where she assists in guiding our school for the betterment of students and staff.
