Olga Catoni was nominated by a family member who wishes to remian anonymous.

Miss Catoni received a letter from a parent, describing the effect she had on their family:

Dear Miss Olga Catoni:

I met you on campus when your son was in prekinder. You caught my attention because as a parent, you were very involved.  Your son was in Ms. Sanchez' class, and you gave out your phone number to help other parents that did not speak English.

You would go on field trips and give rides to mothers that did not have cars because you wanted them to participate.  Many times I caught you afterschool translating documents or filling out forms for people that were in your son's class. She volunteered in many aspects and that made me happy.

Then, I found out you decided to ask for a job in the school. I knew from speaking to other parents that you were highly qualified. One day, you gave a speech to the parents about raising children and providing support to the teachers at the school. You shared your story of being an illegal immigrant and all the obstacles in your life.

By then, many of us crossed our fingers hoping that you get hired, and you did. That was one of the best decisions that the school made. I have witnessed parents tell you how appreciative they are that you invest so much of yourself into the kids, including my daughter.

Not only did you became a teacher in 5th grade, you also led this amazing thing called the Spanish Speaking Parents Club. It is incredible to see our community together because of this club.You also run a club for homework afterschool  to help kids who do not have technology at home. You are amazingly involved in the school.

One day, you told me about an idea you had about teaching parents to speak English or give computer classes. You are there every day and still wants to work more? You are always giving; that in amazing!

Just to mention few, you are Member of the school decision making committee, organizer of the Spanish Speaking Parent Club, creator of homework club and Telemundo teacher of the month.

Thank you very much for your professionalism, kindness, strictness, giving, and knowledgeable support to my kids' school.
