Lauren Maxwell was nominated by her colleagues, Candace Jeffress and Kandi Keith. The following profile contains text from each nomination:
Ms. Maxwell has helped the students in her school district in many ways, one of which is by helping their parents navigate the court system with dignity and grace. She is a caring, compassionate social worker who has gotten help for many of her district’s students who don’t have a voice. She has gotten glasses for students who need them. She has gotten clothes for those students in need and provided food for those who otherwise would go hungry.
“Lauren makes a difference in the lives of our students on a daily basis. Students ask to go see her during class, and she often calls during class to have a student come see her because they are already on her radar. She provides an invaluable service to our students,” said Jeffress.
She is caring and goes beyond!
Lauren is a wonderful person! She’s so good at her job! She even does this in her own time! Whenever you need her she’s there!
Lauren goes above and beyond to make sure the needs of Hamburg School District students are met. She does everything with a smile and puts her whole heart into it. There is not a better person to win this award!

Lauren has the biggest heart! She genuinely cares and wants her students to succeed. She spends her own money for their basic needs to be met as well as securing help from her friends and coworkers for things like prom dresses, hair and nails to help young ladies and gentlemen have the same good memories as more fortunate students. Lauren is very intuitive and able to discern the root of the problem and is extremely knowledgeable about all of the resources available to mitigate and improve the situation. She is ferocious when standing up for people…offering protection as well as compassion when needed. I can think of no person more deserving of this honor and so much more. The world is a better place with Lauren in it.

I have seen this lady in action!! She is wonderful!! She will fight for her school babies and do what it takes to get the job done. I love her spirit and perserverance. She wants what is best for the child and she is willing to go the extra mile. School hours are not her only hours. She works after hours making sure kids have something to eat, clothing that is needed, and making sure the essentials at home are met. She brings needs to light. It's like she claws them out! She makes Hamburg School District and the community of HSD proud to call her ours. We LOVE you, Lauren.

Lauren helps Portland Elementary students in many different ways. She is very caring and works well with our families.
Lauren goes above and beyond serving our students. Our district includes many towns and Lauren serves them all. No matter the time of day or night, as well as the weather- Lauren is available.

Whenever she is presented with a need, her response is, “Let me see what I can do. I’ll get back to you.” A short time later she shows up at your door with your problem solved and a smile.
She loves with all of her being. Lauren is truly special, an answer to prayer. God gave her the gift of serving others and she does with all her might.
Lauren Maxwell is a true problem solver. She is able to identify the barriers that some of our students are dealing with that affects their performance and attendance in school. She is always positive on finding a solution no matter the situation. I value her opinion and advice. She has made a true impact on our school district.

Lauren goes above and beyond for our district, she works endless hours to reach out student body and their families. Lauren doesn't seek recognition for what she does, she just takes care of the needs and moves to the next need. We are privileged to have her in Hamburg!

From delivering food on icy roads, taking students to doctor’s appointments, providing bath and laundry products to families, I could go on and on. The most amazing thing about all of this is how she does everything without wanting or expecting praise or acknowledgment. Mrs Lauren is a perfect example of kindness, love, and compassion. Lauren Maxwell is on call 24/7. She’s fully committed to serving kids whenever there is a need. She works to meet all physical needs as well as emotional needs. She works as a team member in our district to do whatever a kid needs to be successful. She works with their family, the court system, DHS, mental health providers and anyone involved in the child’s life. I’ve NEVER in 30 years seen someone as grounded on her work. We are so blessed.
