LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Jackie Lawson was nominated by her colleague, Maria Claudia Cuartas Cordoba, as well as a family member, Bud Sasser. The following profile contains text from both nominations.

Mrs. Lawson is a LifeChanger in her community because she has showcased her ability to brighten every employee and student's day by being herself. She is the first person students and colleagues see and the last person they see before they go home. She's direct and loving all in one and will always seek to provide a safe environment for parents and students. Her lifestyle is committed to producing a nurturing atmosphere that allows parents or guardians to ask essential questions about their children because Mrs. Lawson has first listened to their needs or concerns.

Mrs. Lawson makes sure her colleagues post their attendance with precision and in a very loving, creative way. She helps younger students with lunch and even runs perfect attendance celebrations. Mrs. Lawson is also a positive role model for students who struggle during the school day.

Her generosity pours outside the school building into the community through her leadership with nonprofit organizations such as SasserNation Foundation. Mrs. Lawson currently holds the seat as the President of the organization and has helped raise over $20,000 in scholarships for high school seniors graduating from Denton ISD.

"Her passion for community engagement is infectious and has always been the true foundation for all whom she inspires daily, including me," said Sasser. "I'm thrilled to nominate Mrs. Lawson for the LifeChanger of the Year award in response to her hard work, passion, and support of the Denton ISD community. In addition, she is a fantastic mother of three successful kids and is a gift that keeps giving!"
