Ashley Jones was nominated by Kristina Curnutt, the parent of a student.

Mrs. Jones makes it her mission to ensure that all students in her class learn to the best of their ability. She challenges the students while recognizing that not all students learn in the same ways or will be at the same level. When there are disruptive behaviors, Mrs. Jones quietly says, "I'll wait," and the students often correct themselves. She has advocated tirelessly for many of her students to receive evaluations, services, and accommodations, even when other staff or family members are unsure. Mrs. Jones can have caring, validating conversations with students and their families explaining her rationale for decisions. While some students have had significant behavioral disruptions in class, Mrs. Jones gives them a clean slate the next day, using positive self-talk for the student and the class. She has the students work on interpersonal relationships by working out their problems together rather than just handling them for them. Mrs. Jones goes above and beyond with colleagues, often willing to help another teacher during her planning time, even in other grades. Even during some tough times in the school, Mrs. Jones has kept a positive attitude and smiling face for her students. She is one of the first to support activities for families, staff, and students, willing to give up some of her free time for community engagement.
