Paola Gust Cordova was nominated by an anonymous parent of a student.
"The greatest good is what we can do for each other," -Mother Theresa
This quote is fitting to describe what Ms. Gust has done for her school community. Ms. Gust has done so much good for our little school in the short time she has been there. She is an active member of the school community, whether she's attending school events, PTC meetings, or principal coffee chats.
Recently, Ms. Gust has started organizing a parent walking group, which is essential work since many parents have been isolated due to the pandemic. Ms. Gust is helping parents to build community.
Ms. Gust coordinated a cultural event for her school during Dia De Los Muertos that included food, dancing, and crafts. Students and their families were able to learn more about this holiday.
Last year, Ms. Gust coordinated a free book handout for students from the local library. The handout ensured every child had a book they could read/practice over the summer.
Lastly, Ms. Gust helped secure a grant for her school to build a food and clothing pantry. She is making a beneficial difference in the lives of many students and their families by providing this service. Ms. Gust spends a lot of time gathering donations for the Bulldog market. She also helps to make collecting donations fun for the whole school. She will be hosting a "Polar Express" food drive this December.
"I can speak for members of our school by saying that we are so lucky to have her at Butternut Creek," said the parent.
