LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Cindy Carson was nominated by her colleague, Andrea Frank.

Ms. Carson is one of the first smiles children receive when arriving at school. She welcomes kiddos off the bus with her magnetic smile and ensures everyone feels safe. Last year, she taught K-2nd grade students in the iCenter at Doherty Elementary School.

This school year, she applied for and accepted the position of Digital Literacy Specialist at West Bloomfield Middle School. Ms. Carson jumped in and changed gears from elementary to middle school teaching without skipping a beat. She has created a warm and welcoming environment for middle school kiddos to collaborate and connect in the new iCenter. When you walk into the iCenter, there is natural sunlight, the buzzing of the 3D printer, background music, MakerSpace craft supplies, traditional board games, and loads of books. 

She graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Elementary Group Minors: Math/Science, English, Integrated Creative Arts, and Early Childhood Education. She has a Master in the Art of Teaching Degree from Marygrove College and a Master in Educational Technology from Lawrence Technological University. It is safe to say she loves to learn and teach! She has dedicated 25 years of her teaching career to West Bloomfield School District as an impactful leader.

When she is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family and dog in their new home. She has two boys who are actively involved in FIRST Lego League and various sports. They love to travel and enjoy all the seasons Michigan has to offer. In the winter, they hit the slopes for downhill skiing, and in the summer, they love to golf and hang out at the beach. Ms. Carson loves capturing life by taking photographs and always enjoys reading good books. A fun fact about Ms. Carson: you will always be inspired when you leave a meeting with her.
