Dr. Wendy Holland was nominated by an anonymous parent.
"As a parent of a child attending a Palm Beach County Public School, I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing Dr. Wendy Holland for the last year," said the parent. "She is a phenomenal instructor and a huge asset to our county."
In 2018, Dr. Holland's book on the Pedagogies of Teaching Minority Males in the 21st Century was inducted into the Library of Congress. Since then, she has given back to the community as a Glades Ambassador for the Take Stock in Children organization. She's also the President of the PBCSD Employee Resource Group. Dr. Holland is highly dedicated, and thus far, her goals have been exceeded tremendously.
"In our county, she is known to be a take-charge person who successfully develops and implements plans," explains the parent.
Due to her passion for education, she has assisted numerous students with disabilities with enrolling in college as dual enrollment participants. This enrollment allows Exceptional Student Education (ESE) students to graduate with both a diploma and an AA degree. Her Global Harvard teaching certification has shown her effectiveness in a field that top-tier educators usually marginalize.
Dr. Holland has been a massive help around the school by getting involved in academic pedagogical implementation with an emphasis on literacy and special education. She has successfully shown leadership by helping prospective educators reach their academic and career goals.

I have known Dr. Wendy Holland since 2020 because we shared office space in the Special Education Department at Glades Central Community High School, located in Belle Glade, Florida. She is a very innovative and compassionate individual promoting high school students for dual enrollment at Palm Beach College, Belle Glade Campus. She tutors in the afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday in English Language Arts and Ready at Glades Central Community High School. She is also the facilitator for an Employee Resource Group of the Palm Beach County Public School System. For these reasons, Dr. Wendy Holland is a valuable asset to any organization fortunate to have her on its team.
Dr. Wendy Holland is deserving of winning the Lifechanger of the Year Award. She puts students first and she cares about them. She spends time helping her students and her colleagues. Although i havent known Dr. Holland for long i feel like i can talk to her about anything. She's easy to talk to when i need her but still acts as a role model and mentor. I dont think ive met anyone who doesnt like her and i begun to like her the first day i met her. She a great teacher and a good influence on students.
Dr. Holland is another mother to the students at Glade Central. She's the type where if you need a helping hand, she is there for you no matter what she going through. When I first met her in my sophomore year of high school, Ms. Holland was the first person to believe in me besides my family. I love her with passion because she shows the kind of love we need when talking to her. She always keeps a smile on her face no matter if she going through something or had a rough day. As someone who has known Dr holland for quite a while I'd like to comment on her compassion for children and the elderly . She's the consumate educator and civic citizen . Kudos to her for all she does and continues to do . May her blessings match her heart .
I am not a woman of many words, however, I felt compelled to comment on the accomplishments and talents of my remarkable daughter. It excites me to write this comment for my daughter! All the other collegiate awards ask for thoughts from her superiors or cohorts. Finally, the one person who has known her whole life and has seen her grow into the incredible young women she is today gets a narrative. (I’m not saying that because I’m her mother, I’m saying that because she always accomplishes something new and keeps surprises everyone!) I get to pour my heart into a comment in hopes of her acquiring an award entitled, "Life Changer!" Wow, how befitting. Watching you grow into the woman you are today is a reward that only Heaven itself could have granted. You are a woman of virtue and morals. As your mother, you have changed my life for the better. Your desire for progression, your need for justice and your advocacy for the overlooked has shown be the benevolence of this gentle world. Your passion to seek and discern new information has shaped be too into an intellect. You have a keen sense for humanity and your efforts for global change are just extraordinary. I literally live for your travel and adventure. I still look at you with an amazement for life, for in you I see all those things that are said to be good. I want to bring to your attention what makes my daughter, unlike the other applicants for this award. She is a rarity for her commitment to humans, animals and environment is in no comparison to others her age. She merely watches an injustice in the world, then is packing to advocate or aide in its change. She is truly a woman that is revered by many, for her heart is a commodity in a world that is progressively becoming selfish! My daughter, my only child, is deserving of this award for since the age of 5. She has adapted the mantra, "MY life is not my own! I am my brother's keeper!"

Dr.Holland is my mentor for the Take Stock Children Scholarship. Dr. Holland has helped through my years in high school. She's a great person to communicate with and is caring. Dr.Holland always makes sure I'm okay in school and out of school. She's one friendly person I have met and can be trusted with anything. Dr. Holland has a heart for children. She is the embodiment of a teacher who teaches students and not subjects. Her rapport with the student body and with her coworkers goes beyond the classroom and is felt within the hallways and the living rooms of our small community.
I have know Wendy since she was 10 years old and she has always been a sweetheart. She would come over to the house everyday and just spend time. It was minimal to me and I never knew of her love until I saw her teaching at Watkins. My daughter Destiny went into a prefetching lesson of how I was to be quiet when I went into her next class because “she is as extra as you mommy and y’all might not ever stop talking”. Well I went in and didn’t say a word, but Ms. Holland did. She shared how I had cared for her over 20 years ago and how she loved me still. The wonderful part of this story is the love that she had poured over my baby, without knowing whose she was. After that night the love was only exemplified, even until this day. Wendy shows up for events, even to support my Roosevelt Middle students. She is a true model of compassion, empathy and empowerment that the entire world needs today beginning with our children. She is a LIFE CHANGER!!
Ms. Holland came to Glades Central HIghschool and changed my life! She made me more motivated to become a better student and I will finish school with a degree due to her encouragement. She is one of the only teachers in this school to make sure that you are doing what you are supposed to do and she will get on if you don't! Why do I love her? The term “if not me, then who?” is so fitting for Wendy because that is honestly her life. She strives to make it to the top and once she’s there she says “oh look another step”. This young woman will not stop going and she instills this into her students as well. She is a ray of light wherever she is. She’s so positive, upbeat, extremely smart and most importantly humble. I am a junior in Glades Central High School and have known Dr. Holland since my freshmen year of high school. She has been my mentor for Take Stock in Children Scholarship these three years. Dr. Holland makes sure to meet up with me at least once a week to talk about my progress in classes and how I am doing. She has been the most helpful person in my time in Take Stock in Children Scholarship. Whenever I have a question about school or sometimes even life she makes sure to have her undivided attention on me and makes sure to answer my questions. I know that by talking with Dr. Holland I will walk out knowing something new. Without Dr. Holland I would not be where I am, she has helped me by helping me keep in track to receiving the requirements I need to graduate and I know that Dr.Holland will help many other students continuing her career because she loves what she is doing.

One important experience in Dr. Wendy Holland's career is having worked with at-risk youth. Wendy is an excellent teacher,she loves to help the students achieve and conquer their assignments and she gives love and lots of patience with each one of her students. I have seen her go above and beyond the duties of a teacher ,those students become her children, because all she want is for them to know and understand that you can do and become whatever you want to be and that you are great. All I know is that she makes them feel that they can overcome anything that gets in their way of learning that they can move it are go around it and complete the task. She is a valued asset that has been a mentor, a friend and a counselor for students including myself who have endured academic challenges, low-esteem, or just that person we needed to talk to when no one else would listen. She has given sound advice, tutored and guided the students at Glades Central in a way that would lead them to success. As a Take Stock in Children Mentor she has helped us to build a path to our future. Have you ever met a teacher that is not only compassionate, but also knowledgeable? A teacher that not only takes her life serious, but displays the same urgency when planning the future of her students. Dr. Holland is brilliant and beautiful. She is the essence of education and does so with a grace comparable to educators of the past. She is strict, but sweet. She is stern, but understandable. She is my personal role model. I have been afforded the opportunity to work with Dr. Wendy Holland at Glades Central Community High School. She has been an asset to my acclimation in a new educational setting. She gives me assistance navigating new systems that are foreign to me. She goes above and beyond and is selfless in her efforts to aid the needs of our students.. Dr.Holland to me is a mother figure.She always cared about us,our lives,our family's and etc.She never gave up on us and made every student her top priority to help with life and school.In and outside of home.To me she need to be treated way better than shes being treated now because, ever since i've first met her my 9th grade year she has change my life for the better.She was always there for the ups and downs in my life and treated me with nothing but love and respect.This is a woman that needs and deserves to be recognized for every good deed and accomplishment she has made in her life time.But most importantly, the accomplishment she gave me in my life.

she is very compasionate towards me and a very loveing and careing person and i think after i gradeuate i will always keep her as a personal friend and teacher and i will keep her as a personal life adviser! as well and i think she can help me develop and grow in life and i hope that she come with me on trips and diffrent life events she join me in life such as out of town events out of stte events and other life aspects with me and she is a very good mentor for me and lot of my diffrent students and thats why we love her so much!!!

DR. Wendy Holland is the sweetest teacher that I have ever had! She never argues she does everything so calmly and never has a problem with anyone. For real, she never loses her cool. She handles everything so well because she does not like violence and for her to be a teacher she is also an incredible person. The same way she acts on campus is the same way she act of campus she is a very respectable person. She deserves this award!
