LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Sharonda Tims was nominated by a colleague who wishes to remain anonymous.

Ms. Tims is an amazing woman. First and foremost, she's a wife and a mother of two who takes care of her family, even as she makes sure the staff and students at Lake Highlands High School are taken care of as well. Ms. Tims is the Assistant Principal for her school's senior class, and she also oversees the math department and AVID program. For Ms. Tims, Teacher Appreciation is not only for a week, it is all-year-round.  She consistently makes the teachers and staff consistently feel appreciated and goes above and beyond her ‘job description’. She does so much more than what is listed as ‘duties.’ 

"Sharonda is a LifeChanger who constantly attends to students' needs.  She makes sure all students who fall behind are able to attend school. For her students, graduation is a must," her nominator said. "She is patient and takes time to communicate with students as she instills discipline. She wants our students to be successful."

Ms. Tims encourages students to strive for greatness. "No Student Left Behind" is how she operates. When students are struggling, she will set them up with tutoring opportunities so they can catch up. She encourages them to always ask for help when they need it.

"Sharonda's school pride at the pep rallies is exciting.  Her laughter alone brings joy.  Her smiles make you smile.  She is very warm and understanding," her nominator said. "Her presence is substantial. When she is not on campus, there is a noticable difference in the mood of the school and her presence is missed. She truly makes a difference for everyone she meets."
