Edie Burritt was nominated by Jennifer Calabrese, her colleague.
Ms. Burritt has been a school counselor with Lexington School District One for about 15 years, working at both the elementary and middle school levels. Most recently, she has completed her pet therapy credentials along with her therapy partner dog, Bo, who is a first responder to crisis events that happen in the district.
Edie has a bright smile for everyone she meets! She has been a guiding light for other counselors in the district. Her expertise and love for the profession is evident. We appreciate all she has done and all she continues to do each day for students & families. We love you Edie!!
Edie - you bring such a loving, positive energy to any school you walk into! Your heart is so beautifully invested in this job and your light shines so brightly! We are so fortunate to have as a counselor in our district!
Edie is an amazing school counselor! She is an advocate for students, parents and teachers! She is always there to listen and guide during tough times and is willing to do whatever it takes to help others. Her positive attitude and spirit are infectious and she brings so much joy to those she encounters. Edie has made such a tremendous impact on the schools she serves and adding Bo has been such a treat. Edie and Bo have brought joy and peace to students, families, faculty and staff in some of life's hardest times. I have enjoyed working with Edie and learning from her how to serve with grace and compassion.
Edie was one of the first Counselors to talk with me and make me feel welcome when I first came to work in Lexington One. She models genuineness and positivity to those around her. Her students are lucky to have her as their School Counselor!
Edie, you are such a great problem solver with a solid work ethic. I have always admired your dedication to the field of school counseling. Your love for working children is genuine. I hope you find ways to recharge your batteries and keep your passion for supporting everyone around you burning forever.
I met Edie in 2004 when she was working with Healing Species. She would visit my students with a therapy dog and share stories about their abuse in hopes of teaching compassion and preventing future violence. I can think of no finer person to receive this nomination since she embodies the term Life Changer each day. Her commitment and dedication to helping children is evident in her daily actions! She is a tremendous asset to our students and our district!
Edie you are fabulous and such an inspiration to other school counselors to keep learning and growing! Thank you for all that you do!
