LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Lisa Nino was nominated by her colleague, Jennifer Fasy.

Ms. Nino is a fantastic teacher who does so much for her school and community. She is an excellent teacher who always does incredible things with her class. Every year, Ms. Nino houses turtles in her classroom for a turtle release program that teaches the students, as well. She built a butterfly housing unit (and a photo-op butterfly stand-in) in the school courtyard that all the classes can visit and use to view the butterfly cycle system up close. Every time something special happens, Mrs. Leon makes balloon arches or figures to give the school a fun vibe. Whenever the community does something, you know she will be there because she always tries to give back to the community. Mrs. Leon ensures every student can participate in school spirit days by buying or making items for her whole class. Every student she has loves her as their teacher. Even when they are older, they refer to her as their favorite. She always has a smile and a can-do attitude when she walks into a room. She would do anything for her students, and that's what makes her a fantastic teacher.
