Lori Qui was nominated by Gigi Whalen, the parent of a student.
"Mrs. Qui is amazing," said Whalen. "While my son was at Rocky Heights Middle School, she was a huge support to him. She became one of his 'trusted adults' in the school, and when he needed help, he would go to the counseling center and seek her out. Lori is kind and supportive. She helps kids gain independence, helps them problem-solve, and is someone they can count on!"
"My son had her as his counselor for the three years he was at RHMS, which allowed him to build a trusting relationship with her, and he sought her out on several occasions," said Whalen. "She was definitely part of his success during his middle school years. I know Lori continues to support kids and staff in any way possible. Lori is truly an outstanding educator who deserves recognition for all that she does for kids - she is a LifeChanger!"
Congratulations Lori! You have done so much to help our daughter Audrey. Including joining her on an ambulance ride! Navigating middle school is hard but with your support we will make it. We appreciate all you do and you are so deserving of this recognition.
Lori has assisted our son so very much as he transitioned to a new community and a new school. Her patience and understanding helped us all so much.
Lori is truly an amazing counselor and has been very supportive of my son for the last 2 1/2 years. One of his first days in middle school he refused to get out of my car to go to school and was in tears. I went in the school and found Lori who came out to my car and reassured my son that everything was going to be ok. I have reached out to Lori many times to have her check on my son and she has and always follows up with me. She truly has a kind heart and genuinely cares for the kids. Thank you Lori for all of your support over the years you definitely are a Life Changer.
Ms. Qui has gone above and beyond for our family and many others. Rocky Heights is fortunate to have her.

Lori has been a member of the district crisis team for well over a decade and I have had the pleasure and honor of working alongside her in this capacity. She is phenomenal in the work she does in this capacity. Her ability to work with folks of all ages as they navigate a crisis as she supports them has taught me so much. Lori would be an incredible recipient of this award!
Lori is so deserving of this award. She is not only a tireless advocate and support for the students she works with, she is also an incredibly supportive colleague.
Lori is a former colleague and supported me a lot through professional and personal experiences.
I met Lori during a crisis moment that no educator is ever prepared for- the tragic death of a student. Lori came into our school as a part of the district crisis team and guided our staff through an extremely difficult time- always knowing when to listen and when to act for the good of the community. I’ll never forget the compassion Lori showed us all and the strength she modeled to help us carry on. May we all have someone as gentle as Lori helping us know what to do next in a time of crisis.
I have the privilege of working with Lori. She is truly one of a kind and gives her heart and soul to the kids and community at Rocky Heights.
Lori Qui helped my son with his struggles of mental health … which inspired him with his Eagle Scout Project where he made over 1,000 calming jars to be given to counselors in the school to assist kids in calming their brain. He was asked to present his project to the counselors, school psychologists, principals and the superintendent. He then shared the project and purpose for helping kids in front of 6,000 people at the Pepsi Center. Lori Qui inspired him to help other kids like him. Thank you Lori for helping my son who in return tried to help others like himself. We are so grateful for your efforts!
