RHS is a wonderful school, but it's even better because of Mrs. Everhart's impact. My oldest son graduated in 2022 in Mrs. Everhart was a huge part of his success in everything from scheduling support to college prep and selection. With so many students in the school she still manages to make every student feel important and you can tell she is genuinely interested in their success. My youngest is a freshman at RHS now and I am so grateful there are amazing people like Mrs. Everhart in his corner. She is the best!

I’ve known Kara a very long time and in that time she has consistently and steadfastly been selfless, loving, caring, compassionate, always eager to listen and help in any way she can. Spending time learning how to help has never been a labor of work it’s always been a labor of love. Honestly she has had a large impact on who I am today. She has the ability to make a person feel like they are the most important and special person she knows. The grinch has a heart three sizes to small….. Kara has a heart three sizes to big. To known her is to love her. She’s Definitely special and my life wouldn’t be what it is without her in it.

I've been fortunate to work with a lot of great people in my career, and many of them I consider friends, but I have to say that Kara stands out even in a crowd of great peers. I appreciate her commitment to extraordinary service, but many of you already know about that. While she is a consummate professional, she is also the absolute best teammate. She is encouraging, supportive, efficient, and highly intelligent. She works hard, and I'm glad she is being recognized for her outstanding service.

Kara was my son's counselor last year and was very prompt about answering emails. She was also helpful in the area of helping my son to choose his classes for this year.

Kara Everhart has been teaching me since before I could walk. I believe she absolutely embodies the spirit of compassion. The amount of effort she puts forth to ensure everyone around her feels seen and heard is astonishing. I feel so blessed for her to be a part of my life. I genuinely cannot imagine any person more deserving of this than she is!!

Laura Selph Posted over a year ago

I have heard so many stories about kids who recommend calling Kara to their friends and even though she isn’t their counselor she helps them all. I have seen Kara walk through difficulties with such steadiness and grace and a real heart for her students. She loves people big and is passing along that legacy to students she serves.

Eight years ago, I sat in Mrs. Everhart’s chemistry class as a sophomore in high school. She quickly became my favorite teacher as she taught her students a subject that many would consider boring with passion. Over the year that I learned from her, she instilled a love for science in me. I decided to take AP Biology my senior year of high school, and she was my teacher again! I was thrilled because I loved learning from her, but I also loved how she took the time to know each of her students. She had a gift of making her students feel special and smart and unique when she would talk to us, even when we didn’t do great on a test or she was disciplining our rowdy classroom. Even though she had a lot on her plate, she took the time that year to meet with me so I would feel prepared for my AP test, and she wrote recommendation letters for me so I could submit them with my college applications. It’s been over six years since I graduated high school and I am now a labor and delivery nurse. I never would have become a nurse if Mrs. Everhart hadn’t instilled a love for science and learning in me. I have two college degrees, so I’ve had a lot of teachers and professors, and to this day, Mrs. Everhart remains my favorite teacher. No one is more deserving than her to be considered a life changer, because she changed mine and so many of my peers’ lives!

Mrs. Everhart changes young lives for the better. She is selfless, kind, caring, empathetic, and absolutely beautiful. I am in awe of this woman. She makes children loved. Most students don’t go to there assigned counselor, they go to a the embodiment of love. Mrs. Everhart never goes a day without a smile on her face. I am absolutely in wonder when I think of a person like her. I’m not amazing at math, but I just want to be 1/20th of the human being she is.

Reese Everhart Posted over a year ago

I don't think I can think of anyone more deserving of this award than Kara because she quite literally changed my life. When I first met her, I was still on edge working through my parent's divorce. However, that didn't stop her from eventually breaking down my walls and coming into my life. I've never met someone as hardworking, dedicated, and caring as she is. She never hesitates to help me whether it be driving me to every football practice and game during my freshmen and sophomore years or staying up late to help me with math even though I'd be crying during the whole thing. Her hugs and just her presence fills me with so much love. I know I'm not the only one that's been impacted by her, tons of students from my school and even my own friends have been impacted in some way by her. She's so considerate and wants to do all she can to help her students and just anyone in general. I'm so incredibly lucky to be able to call her mom.

I can think of no one more deserving of the title Life Changer than Kara. As you can probably piece together by my last name Kara Is my wife. She came into my life about 8 years ago when a friend connected us. At the time I had no idea she would be my everything. We both shared similar stories, single parents each with three little ones that just had their worlds turn upside down. Through this time of personal heartache she somehow found a way to change the lives of myself and my kids. Loving us individually and welcoming us into her family. At that time Kara was a biology teacher at Rockwall High School. Known by her kids as Mrs. G. I do not believe there was a student she taught that she did not touch in some way. This even extended to the parents of her students. And at no time was this more apparent than at Christmas time and teacher appreciation when she was flooded with gifts from current and previous students alike. Starbucks gift cards, coffee mugs, chocolates and flowers overwhelmed her tiny desk. As a teacher Kara was awarded the Hawk Award as must influential teacher 4 years in a row. This is one of the most prestigious awards a teacher can receive in Rockwall ISD and is extra meaningful as it comes directly from a student nomination. Fast forward to today where Kara is the lead counselor at Rockwall High. She has come out of the classroom and in to the office to help her students get ready for life outside of RHS. Wither it’s conversations about current classes, future college plans, career goals or just being someone to talk to her students know she is there for them. Her day doesn’t end at 4pm when the students go home she spends countless hours at home going over transcripts making sure EVERY ONE of her students is on track to graduate. In 2020 Kara took her life changer approach outside of her office volunteering at Lone Star CASA. As a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer Kara works to provide local courts with the information needed to act in the best interests of abused and neglected children. As I am writing this I cannot think of the last time we went out to dinner and Kara wasn’t recognized but a student, parent or colleague. She has makes an impression on people that lasts a life time. Well beyond the time in her classroom or office. I realize there are a lot of life changers out there but in opinion there is none more deserving than Kara.

Kara is my best friends mom, and she is like a mom to me. I have never felt as comfortable in someone else's home as I am hers. I have never felt as loved and respected for who I truly am as I have when she hugs me and compliments me. I have never met someone as genuinely kind as Kara and I will be forever lucky that she loves me for who I am. No one is more deserving of this award than Kara Everhart ??

Kara Gilliland Everhart is a person that works behind the scenes but stands out because of her love and regard for all those around her. She is an inspiration to anyone who knows her but she is especially incredible to me. From being her student, to babysitting her babies, to gaining a lifelong friend, I can personal attest to her servant heart that loves big and deep!! No one is more deserving of this award.

I used to work for CPS in Rockwall County and had multiple cases involving Kara’s students. Kara goes above and beyond for her students to make sure they are safe and supported both in school and outside of school! Kara is so caring and compassionate and her students recognize that. I asked one child who a “safe adult” is that they can trust and talk to if they need something, they immediately responded, “Mrs. Everhart.” She also uses her free time to love on the kids of our community as a CASA volunteer. Kara is so deserving of this award!!

Kara is the epitome of this award’s name. However, it’s not just an yearly thing for her. Since I have known Kara she has proved to be the most loving, loyal, caring, and thoughtful person I know. We have been friends for almost 16 years and I have seen how she cares for and about these kids in and outside of school. As a parent I am so thankful to have her at my kid’s high school as a counselor. It because of our friendship, but because of her work ethic and her heart to truly serve these kids. I wish we had many more like her.

I am super proud to say that Kara Everhart is my mom. She constantly strives to help everyone around her at her work, her family, and her friends. She goes above what's asked of her and has a servants heart. I can not thank her enough for how's she's impacted me through my life, especially through High School. I was in many clubs, organizations, and volunteered for my community. I'm not sure if you know this but we have 6 kids in our family. That means 6 completely different schedules that my mom handled and was also our biggest cheerleader. She reminded us daily that we can achieve our goals! She's my best friend and my life changer. Love you mom! <3

Kara was unbelievably helpful when my daughter was a senior in high school. She answered all of our questions so quickly and believe me we had lots of questions. She even took time out of her summer vacation to send a transcript directly to my daughter’s university when my girl got locked out of the transcript service. She is a amazing counselor who genuinely cares about the future of the students she serves.

I have known Kara as a teacher colleague when we taught in the same department. I have just as much, if not more, respect and admiration for her now as a councelor as I did when we taught together. Not only am I a colleague of hers, but I am also a parent. Kara has been the councelor for two of my children who were or are still students at our school. Kara has the warmest personality and is very welcoming and approachable. She displays an extreme amount of professionalism that matches her extreme level of compassion for students and their success. I can only imagine the number of young lives that she has influenced or changed. Kara is a rockstar any way you spin it!!

Kara taught my middle school science class, and as I began working as a teacher, it was so comforting to be on the same campus as her. She is a light for many students and coworkers alike. Kara has taken on the role of lead counselor this year, and has done an amazing job with the tasks required of her, even going beyond what is required. She welcomes new teachers to campus with open arms, is a shoulder for students to cry on, provides solid resources for students to use in their times of need, and tries to come up with innovative ways to help her campus. She truly deserves this award.
