Mrs. Shamika Spikes-Hooker was nominated by Andrea Ferguson, her colleague.

Mrs. Spikes-Hooker is an exemplary school counselor at DeRidder High School. She has positively influenced the lives and careers of a significant number of students over the past 20+ years. 

"Mrs. Spikes-Hooker is a driving force within the school's educational and support staff, leading personnel in a positive direction to nurture and provide affirmative reinforcement to students," explains Ferguson.

She provides leadership within DeRidder High School, the Beauregard Parish School District, and the community. She is active in Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) and her church community, maintaining strict faithfulness to her high moral and ethical standards. Mrs. Spikes-Hooker is a highly respected and revered member of the community and of DeRidder High School.

Mrs. Hooker is such a pleasure to work with. Any time you see her she has a smile on her face and is cheerful to all who are around. She is so encouraging to every student she speaks with. She goes above and beyond to ensure that our students needs are met and that everyone is taken care of. at DeRidder HIgh School.
