Lea Jones was nominated by Tameka Scott, her assistant principal.
"Mrs. Lea Jones is an epitome of an inspirational and relationship-building teacher," said Scott. "She was Sweetwater Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2022. Mrs. Jones is a role model for teachers in our building."
Mrs. Jones's classroom energy is unmatched. When you enter her classroom, you enter a learning environment where students want to learn and are eager to master the task set for them by their teacher. She has taken the time to build solid and meaningful relationships in her classroom.
She understands her students' unique and diverse needs and celebrates their diversity in her classroom. When students are about to take any assessment, you can hear Mrs. Jones often say, "It doesn't matter where you started; it only matters where you are going!" She encourages them daily with positive affirmations like, "there is no one like you, be the best YOU," and "You are more than a score!" Mrs. Jones takes the time to goal set with each student and does what is necessary to help them achieve their goals. Mrs. Jones cares about the student's academic and behavioral goals and takes the time to support her students in their extracurricular activities. She is excellent at finding each child's "unique gift" and building upon that. Students in her class feel loved and accepted for who they are.
You can always find Mrs. Jones encouraging her fellow teachers with curriculum, best instructional practices, an encouraging word, or a joke that brightens their day.
"She is funny!" said Scott. "Mrs. Jones is a teacher that all children should experience at least once as they matriculate through school. If you talk to any of her parents, past and present, they will rave at their student's academic and behavioral success. Mrs. Jones makes sure to reach the whole child!"
Through her impact in the classroom, the students know that they are world changers.

Hi Ms. Jones! I hope you become 'Life Changer of the Year'. Here are 3 reasons why.
First, you are very fun and a good teacher. Second, you play a lot of music which can motivate me. Third, you do the best teaching of all 4th grade. "YOU DA BEST!" (Like DJ Khaled). This is why you should be "Life Changer of the Year."
Whenever you interact with Mrs. Jones, it's obvious that she is passionate about her students and teaching. Even through challenges with my child at times, she's their biggest supporter.
Mrs. Jones is a phenomenal Teacher! This is my daughter's first year at Sweetwater Elementary, and we are still relatively new to Lithia Springs. We walked in to Sweetwater for registration, was met with amazing grace and love. We were told Sweetwater has the perfect Teacher for your child. Heard about Mrs. Jones unseen, and sure enough the truth is the truth. Mrs. Jones took my daughter in on the first day of school this year saying, "She will help her to blossom." She has kept her promise. My daughter is progressing every week in her both her studies and confidence. Mrs. Jones is referred to as an Angel in our home. So deserving!
When she speak of her students you could hear the passion in her voice. These are things great teachers are made of!!!
Mrs. Jones is so deserving of this nomination. She is a great teacher and her students love her. What a great example and terrific role model for other teachers in our building.
Mrs. Jones is such a pleasure to work with. Her energetic spirit, kind sweet words to the students, and motivation to her colleagues, are the main reasons she deserves this award. Sweetwater is lucky to have her.

It was an honor to have had the opportunity to work along aside Lea Jones in the fourth grade last school year 2021-2022. Mrs. Jones brings joy wherever she is and truly builds relationships with her students and parent that leave an ever lasting stamp. As a teacher Mrs. Jones goes above and beyond her call of duty. She impacts students not just as a general education teacher but through extra- curriculum support such as Castle Kids tutoring, summer school, AVID, school-wide programs like the African American museum and etc. As a team leader, Lea Jones collaborated effectively and encouraged me everyday with a smile and her high sense of energy that can brighten anyone's day. Lea Jones truly is a life changer at Sweetwater Elementary School.

Let me share a very positive experience with the phenomenal educator. I taught summer school this year (2022). Mrs. Lea Jones was the Summer Learning administrator and it was a positive experience for students and teachers! Every aspect of the program was organized: student/bus arrival/departure, lunch rotations, and most importantly, the curriculum for each grade level. Mrs. Lea Jones checked with each teacher daily to make sure we had everything needed to be successful. Her professionalism and her humor kept everyone, students and staff, upbeat and focused. I would not hesitate to work under her leadership again.
Love this lady! Such an amazing teacher and person! Go Mrs. Jones girl! Keep the hard work up and making learning fun and easier! All my kids love her as a teacher!
Lea is one of the most phenomenal Educators out here. She is an innovative and dedicated to impacting the lives of the students she interacts with on a daily. To see her in action is to see someone who makes teaching looks desirable.
Mrs. Jones is awesome. I have worked with her for the past three school years and I can truly say that she loves what she does. She organically builds relationships with her students and her instruction is personal and always relevant. Her classroom is always warm, inviting, and lively. Her instructional practices reflect a teacher who has studied her students and ensures that students are met at their developmental level.
I have known Mrs. Lea Jones for well over 20 years, and have always observed her to be a caring, kind hearted, compassionate person. I was blessed with the opportunity to work with and under Mrs. Lea Jones and I Concur with the Principal sentiment... It was the best summer school experience ever, I was a visiting teacher and I was made to feel like I was at my home school. I have maintained a relationship with her professionally and she has always used her wisdom and Insight to guide me. Mrs. Jones is a leader In her own rights in this field of education.
