Jessica Frye was nominated by Stacey Kelly, parent of a student.

Mrs. Frye displays leadership within her school and district. Within the walls of her school, she takes on the responsibility of welcoming new teachers. Mrs. Frye takes new employees under her wing by taking them on a personal tour, answering questions, and providing them with a welcoming environment. Mrs. Frye has been recognized as "Teacher of the Year" for Kershaw County School District, and she currently takes an active role in the district leadership committee. She also advocates for teachers and students daily.

"She has a very special way of connecting with students and parents," said Kelly. "Her open line of communication and true love of her students is obvious to everyone in our community. Each student in her class feels valued, seen, heard, and loved. She gives them opportunities to shine and be leaders in their own classroom community. The classroom family environment she creates allows students to reach their full potential academically."

Mrs. Frye has the actual ability to change the lives of students and families in her community.

"The most important and obvious reason Mrs. Frye should receive recognition as a LifeChanger is that I have witnessed it firsthand," explains Kelly. "My son is currently in her third-grade classroom, and I teach across the hall. Jessica can make him a true leader in the classroom. He feels it is important to go to school because his teacher wants and needs him to be in the classroom. Mrs. Frye not only gets my son to want to come to school early, but she has also made a connection with him so that he wants to be a leader and is proud of himself."

"Daily, I hear and see her pour her love into our school community. I am blessed to learn from her and witness her changing lives daily at Blaney," said Kelly.

I just met Jessica this year when I came to Blaney, but she makes me feel like I’ve known her forever. From day 1 when she took it upon herself to take all of the new teachers to BES under her wing, I knew she was someone special! Jessica embodies everything an educator should be. She goes above and beyond for her students and coworkers. When I’m having a bad day, she will do anything she can to help relieve some stress off my plate. She has even gone as far as to write and prepare sub plans for me when I’ve been sick. I couldn’t think of a better nominee to hold this honor than Jessica. She truly has the biggest heart and the most creative teaching ideas! Proud to know you Frye!

I have known Mrs. Frye for several years now. I first came to know her when she was Kershaw County (SC) School District Teacher of the Year. This is a position of great influence throughout the district, and Jessica always used it to advocate for her students, her colleagues, and her profession. She is still actively engaged in this work. She continually thinks through how to best serve her students and how to daily meet their academic, behavioral, social and emotional needs. I have also known Jessica in the role of parent, as I taught one of her children. She was incredibly supportive, wanted to help her son succeed in class and was always open to communication. She was the ideal parent-partner! I know Jessica is also involved as a softball coach at the local high school, her alma mater, and she invests her time, energy and effort into the lives of her student-athletes. Jessica Frye is an all-around Life Changer!

I have been fortunate to know Jessica Frye on different levels. We are life long friends, former softball teammates, teach in the same district, coach softball together, and she taught my son, Ali. Some people choose to be teachers and others are chosen to be teachers. When you are called to teach, you give it your all regardless of the circumstances or what kind of day you’ve had. Jessica is epitome of what being chosen and called to teach looks like. She has a huge heart and loves people. Jessica has the ability to make everyone feel important regardless of who they are or what their background is. Building relationships, reaching students where they are, and making kids matter are a few things that set Jessica apart from many teachers. She sees the value in her students and also teaches them to value themselves as well as their peers. My son was one of the blessed ones to have Jessica as a teacher and he loved every minute he spent in her classroom. He stated, “Mrs. Frye made learning fun and took time to get to know us. I loved being in her class. Whenever I see her, it brings back so many fun memories and I feel like that 4th grader all over again.” Jessica gets just as excited to see him as he does when he sees her. They always joke around and make each other laugh. Their encounters always make me smile. As a colleague Jessica is a mentor for teachers districtwide. She makes herself available to assist them in any way that she can. Jessica is often a safe haven who listens with reason and offers advice on whatever problem her colleagues are facing. When they are beat down and feel defeated, she reminds them to remember their why. Jessica uplifts them by encouraging them to return back to the reason they fell in love with teaching and to search for a positive in all situations. As a coach, Jessica has expectations, but she corrects without belittling or breaking the player down. Even in defeat, she finds something to celebrate before the team’s final huddle to assure they don’t leave the field feeling defeated. She inspires them to be a better version of themselves everyday. Jessica Frye is THAT teacher every teacher wants to collaborate with, THAT teacher every parent hopes their child will get, and THAT teacher every student wishes to have. Leading with her heart is what makes Jessica Frye THAT teacher. I am ecstatic that she is being recognized for her genuine commitment to her students and the education field. Jessica Frye is indeed a LIFE CHANGER!!

Mrs. Frye has been my favorite teacher since 4th grade and that will never change! She found creative ways to make learning fun. I looked forward to Fridays the most when we got to do our “Snazzy Snack”. She bought the food herself and we made cute and fun snacks or drinks. She always cared for us and made sure we understood everything that we were learning. She was also my archery coach for 4th and 5th grade. She was an amazing coach and always pushed me to try harder and to better. If it wasn’t for her I believe I wouldn’t be as good as I am today.

I have known Jessica since she first began teaching. We worked together at Pine Tree Hill Elementary. Since the beginning of her career, she has displayed such a strong sense of community within her classroom. I have never forgotten how much she cared for ALL of the students in her class. Jessica is a phenomenal educator!

Mrs. Frye is a great friend, teacher, role model, and mentor. When I was a first year teacher, Mrs. Frye was a huge encouragement to me. She would give me advice and always tell me that she believed in me. She would randomly text me encouraging messages or just ask how I was doing. I could tell she truly loved what she did. Last year, she was my youngest daughter’s softball coach. The bond between the two was instant. Mrs. Frye showed my daughter love, compassion, and guidance on and off the field. If my daughter was sick, or just having teenage issues, Mrs. Frye would text her and check on her. I could tell that she truly loved all of the softball players. Mrs. Frye is a life changer in all aspects! She personifies love in everything that she does! She deserves this award and so many more!

Jessica Frye is the definition of a Life Changer. Her passion for changing lives is evident in her many roles- mother, educator, mentor, coach, volunteer, friend. It has been my pleasure for many years to witness her in each of these roles and to see the impact she makes in each person's life. Jessica has an unwavering commitment as a teacher to change the lives of her students. As a coach, she is an encourager and pushes her athletes to reach their greatest potential. One of the things I admire most about her is her daily reflection about how to make tomorrow better for everyone she serves. As her friend, I can honestly say everyone needs a Jessica Frye in their life! She is not only a life changer, but a world changer!

Mrs. Frye currently teaches my daughter who is in third grade. As you are aware, this is the first full “normal” school year her grade level has had. Being a Covid kindergartener and then getting lucky enough to have the same teacher for first and second grade, I was admittedly nervous about not only the big academic leap from second to third grade, but also a new environment. Mrs. Frye immediately made that environment a safe and happy place for all of her students. My daughter has not only adapted, but she has thrived because of Mrs. Frye. She inspires her students daily, she has the consistency and structure that children crave, while making sure they know she is a safe place, but also that it’s okay to just have fun and be silly sometimes. If anyone deserves this, it’s Jessica Frye!

I pray whoever gets the honor of getting her in class next year gets to experience all the joys and securities she gives her parents . She truly loves these kids like her own

She is so structured, yet fun, optimistic and encourages the students to do their personal best. She is a wonderful person to work with, always shows kindness to others and her good morals and true character shines daily! Mrs Frye deserves all the recognition as a wonderful educator and leader she gets and then some.

Jessica Frye was my oldest son's fourth grade teacher when covid hit and we had to go virtual. Like any kid he enjoyed being home at first but it wasn't long before he missed getting to be in the classroom with Mrs.Frye. Jessica welcomes every child and treats them all with compassion. She makes learning fun and doesn't leave anyone behind. As a substitute teacher for Blaney Mrs. Frye has been one of my best examples, I know if I ever have a question I can go to her. Definitely we'll deserved. We love you Frye!

I am beyond grateful to know Jessica Frye! She has helped me as a new coworker and as a parent. She is an incredible teacher. She loves her students well! She is currently my 3rd grader's teacher. I am amazed at the progress my child is making under her leadership. Also, as a new coworker at Blaney Elementary, she walked me through getting started in the classroom. I am incredibly thankful for her wisdom that she shared and still shares with me!

Mrs Frye has taught 2 of my kids. She pours herself into her students and makes them want to learn. Both of my kids agree she has definitely been their favorite and most remembered teacher.

Melissa Emmons Posted over a year ago

Jessica Frye is an educator that is devoted to the children and parents who are fortunate enough to be on her roster. She sees the potential in every student that she encounters, no matter what the situation. Even in her time off, she still invests in the future of so many by choosing to coach. A challenging student does not sway her commitment. As a matter of fact, it inspires her to give even more. She celebrates everyone except herself. A teacher who is slowly molding our future leaders, one student at a time.

Mrs. Frye genuinely cares about her students and it shows daily! I only see her for a few minutes everyday but in those few minutes she demonstrates a love for her kids while also holding them to a high standard of respect. Mrs. Frye and her students are one of my most favorite parts of the school day!!

By afternoon, Jessica Frye coaches softball and encourages young women to strive to be champions, not only on the softball field, but in life. She has such high expectations of both her students and athletes, leading these young people to realize anything is possible through hard work and a love for learning. Mrs. Frye is a life changer. My daughter had Mrs. Frye as a fourth grade teacher. After years of academic concern, Mrs. Frye listened to these concerns, saw the struggles, and helped us! When you see your child finally learning to read and comprehend their assignments is a life changing experience. Our daughter began to love school! Mrs. Frye…. We appreciate everything you did for us and the love shown towards our daughter!

Jessica Frye is an amazing classroom teacher. She goes out of her way to get to know her students on a personal level because she knows relationship comes before learning. She is also creative in using instructional strategies to differentiate learning for all students. Additionally, she is a teacher leader in the district, serving on the Teacher Forum Leadership Council. There are countless students, parent, and colleagues who have been greatly impacted by this life changer!

Jessica's influence stretches beyond her classroom. For over five years, Jessica has served on Kershaw County's Teacher Forum Leadership Council. In this role, Jessica has helped coordinate events for teachers throughout our district. Jessica's efforts and contributions have affirmed the work of other educators and encouraged them to continue their own work of influencing students and colleagues. In addition to inspiring her students on a daily basis, Jessica also inspires other teachers, which is such a crucial need in our current times. We are so grateful to have Jessica in Kershaw County!

Mrs. Frye is such a special teacher! She truly teaches students, not lessons. What I mean is, she sees each student and their individual needs. She helps send them confidently to the next level in school and life. She has a gift for teaching kids for mastery. My child comes home most days with a new trick, or memory of an anchor chart they made in class to help her retain info taught. My daughter used to struggle with forgeting things along the way, but because of Mrs. Frye she’s learned many fun ways to remember the important things to take her forward. Mrs. Frye leaves each student better than she found them! We love her so much!!!! She totally changes lives!!!

Mrs. Frye definitely truly cares for her students, her teammates, her coworkers and her school as a whole. She is making huge impacts daily through her personal sacrifices for her students. She's inspiring, thoughtful, passionate, dedicated, motivating, creative, talented and I could go on and on. We are truly blessed with all of our teachers here at Blaney Elementary and the care and compassion they show. Jessica is an amazing coach. From the time my daughter started coming to workouts she welcomed her. When she got hurt over the summer playing travel ball Jessica texted to check on her. She’s brought my daughter out of her shy stage and encourages and has made her a better player. She truly is an amazing teacher and coach!

Jessica Frye helped my son Cash LOVE school again. She built such a great relationship with him inside the classroom that made him totally comfortable with being himself. She got to know what made him tick, what frustrates him, his “tipping point” cues and how to meet him exactly where he was both educationally and socially. He became a much better student and kid from being in Jessica Frye’s classroom and he still loves interacting with her outside of class to this day!

Jessica taught my daughter in the 5th grade! I can't believe it has been that long but through the years I have watched Jessica stay true to who she is. I have watched her win awards, I have watched her love on others, I have heard her encouraging words. Through all of the awards and praise she has remained humble and kind. Just a few weeks ago I texted her to help with the special needs prom in our community. Even though she was staying late coaching softball that night she showed up and showered our guest with the love and attention they deserved. All of this after teaching school. She didn't ask questions, she just showed up! She is the total package and I am so glad I get to cheer for her and call her a friend.

I have worked with Jessica for 4 years. She was my neighbor for 3 of those years. I could hear her teaching through the wall. I found myself singing the multiplication songs that some of her former students still sing to work their problems out. You could feel the excitement through the wall. She would even share her snazzy snacks with me. I am a resource teacher and Jessica and I have shared many students through the years. She works with them so well, and they would do their best to please her. She’s not only a great teacher, but a good friend also. I am so thankful to have her on my team!!

Lisa Carter Posted over a year ago

Jessica Frye makes it her daily goal to meet the individual needs of her students. I had the privilege of being her principal for many years. From the beginning of her time under my supervision, I observed her pouring over her students' data and test scores to ensure she provided specific and targeted small group instruction. Her skill at analyzing data to drive her instruction serves her students well. She has a strong grasp of curriculum for the grade level she teaches; the grade they are coming from; and the grade they will enter once they leave her class. With that knowledge, she integrates her lessons to cross each curriculum area and make learning meaninful and relevant. She has strong interpersonal skills that allow her to build supportive relationships with her students, parents and colleagues. During a time where teachers are leaving the field of education, Jessica remains. She remains because of the passion she has for the children and the potential and hope she sees in each one of them. She is already a Life Changer and will continue to be because she doesn't know how to do teaching any other way.

Monica Woodberry Posted over a year ago

While I could speak about all of the ways Jessica has supported me as a friend and co-worker, I want to share with you what makes her an exceptional teacher. Both of my boys have had her as a teacher. My boys are at two opposite ends of the spectrum. Mason is loud, confident, and needs to be roped in. Cooper has high anxiety, he has a speech delay and learning disability and needs reassurance. Both of them needed a teacher who would love them and both of them needed Jessica Frye. I will never be able to explain the lasting impact she has made on both of them and on me, their mom. My heart and mind were eased and my children are better people for having her as a teacher.

Mrs. Frye is truly a life changer and I have been able to experience that as a fellow teacher and as a parent of one her students. When I first came to Blaney, Mrs. Frye was one of the main people to welcome me and help me adjust to a new school. Her leadership among teachers and her willingness to help with anything was truly evident. Then I had the amazing experience of seeing first hand how she loves and encourages her students when my daughter was in her class. My daughter had to be quarantined and work from home from the first day of school, and Mrs. Frye went above and beyond to make her feel a part of the class and help her with work. She truly changes lives everyday!

I had at least one child at Blaney for 12 years! So I knew most of the teachers that were there during that time, only a very few stood out, but many years later only one continues to stand out, now that all of my children have graduated high school. Jessica Frye is and always will be (in my mind) the ultimate teacher! She can get close to every child that crosses her path, whether they are in her class or just on her hall! She miraculously brings out the best in everyone! Her infectious smile just makes your day! While I know being an elementary school teacher alone must be tough doing it and raising 3 boys must have been an amazing trip but you never ever saw it get to her, she always made everyone around her believe everything was easy! She deserves this award more than anyone I could ever imagine because changing lives is just what she does who she is and I pray everyday that my grandchildren get to have a teacher half as wonderful as Mrs. Frye!!
