Krystal Swinnea was nominated by Jonathan Price, her friend.
"I have known Krystal since she was a student and FFA member at Groesbeck High School," said Price. "Now, years later, I am proud to nominate her for a LifeChanger of the Year. Krystal has returned to her Alma Mater and is changing lives for a new generation of Groesbeck Goats!"
As the school counselor and CTE coordinator, she works tirelessly to make sure that all her students have opportunities to progress and excel after they leave high school. Whether it be college scholarships, avenues for trade school, or simply great job opportunities after graduation, her goal is to ensure every student gets a chance.
Each year, her students receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in awards and scholarships, mainly due to her tenacity and attention to detail in pursuit of these opportunities.
Outside of this, she diligently ensures that her students are loved and know their importance. She is their loudest and proudest fan and cheerleader and has even served as a cheerleader sponsor at various times in her career.
"Not a single student leaves GHS without the knowledge that Mrs. Swinnea loves them, supports them, and has worked tirelessly to ensure their opportunities for success," explains Price.
Groesbeck High School is very lucky to have Ms. Swinnea She not only helped my daughter with college applications & requirements but helped her navigate all while her dad was undergoing cancer treatments. She was always there for her & was patient & caring in a very stressful time. I am thankful my son now has the privilege of having her as a counselor. Ms. Swinnea truly cares for all of students and wants them to succeed!
I have had the privilege to know Krystal pretty much her entire life. I have got to watch her grow into this amazing woman. She puts her heart into everything she does. She goes above and beyond and is always supporting others. She treats and cares for the kids at GHS like her own and goes above and beyond to make sure they plan for their future. She is very deserving of this award.
Krystal is one of special people who cares about a person from the beginning to the end n onward. I’ve read her posts to a person who needed help with daily cheering up and how to do so. This has helped me cheer up & solutions on how to get there even though I wasn’t the person she was talking about! I applaud her energy while going through tough times herself! I don’t know how she does it, but she is an amazing person!

Krystal Swinnea is a very caring and extremely supportive counselor. She puts her heart and soul into the high school students in her care. It is obvious from her willingness to listen to the students and parents concerns she truly wants to help guide them to a successful outcome.
She has the ability to remain calm and help a student talk through the goals they wish to accomplish and show them a path to get there. Our school is fortunate to have Krystal Swinnea serving as counselor. Both of my own students have greatly benefited from her guidance and support.
Krystal always goes the extra mile to make sure that GHS students are informed and successful. Krystal makes sure that the students feel comfortable coming to her for help, and her door is always open. GHS is truly blessed to have such a caring, hard-working counselor.
Mrs. Swinnea is the best. She is always so helpful to her students, and their parents, at school as well as outside of school. The love and patience that she shows is much appreciated. She shows an interest to every student and their activities as well.
This is so amazing! Krystal is a wonderful example to all the kids she works with. She is always supportive and positive and truly inspires the kids! She works tirelessly to show these kids that each and everyone of them are special and important. She works hard to build long and trusting relationships with all her kids, she treats all the kids as her very own. I couldnt ask for a better counselor for my child to have as a resource, counselor, friend and role model.

I have known Krystal since she was the age of these young people she is counseling today. She relates to these students because she was them once. She was looking for answers and guidance just as they are. Krystal gives 100+ to this love of hers. I say, love of hers, because it would have to be. This takes a special person to do this job. Krystal has turned into an amazing person. Her strengths are in the help she gives. She stays in contact with her work field even when she is off. I don't think you are ever off in this job. It is one she thinks about always. Such a great promoter of school spirit and living life. I love Krystal Swinnea..I vote for you...

Krystal is a wonderful school
Counselor. The kids know she is there anytime they need a caring ear. She is also a great supporter of our foreign exchange students and helps us keep bringing exchange students to her school. The exchange kids appreciate her and the local kids really benefit from getting to know the exchange students. Many lives are impacted by Krystal every day.
Thank you for being such an awesome counselor. You do an amazing job and have touched the lives of so many students.
Krystal gives her heart and soul to being our counselor. She works tirelessly everyday to seek out every opportunity she can to better our students. The countless hours she spends do not go to waste. Our students know that no matter what the situation may be, she is ALWAYS there for them with all the help she can muster. Her dedication and determination is known far and wide by not only our students, but the entire community. The sweat and tears she gives of herself make everyone’s world a greater place to live and work. I am very proud to give her my vote to this wonderful lady. I have known Krystal since before she became a teenager and have enjoyed her personality and watched her grow into the woman she has become she has worn many hats, school mascot,wife,mother,teacher,counselor (I’m sure I’ve missed something)and puts her whole heart into it all she has made a big difference in many a child’s life.
