LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Miriam Lissette Casarez was nominated by one of her family members.

Mrs. Casarez has impacted her students at Perkins Middle School. She has been slowly changing their lives to help them become better students academically, have good attendance, and share their talent in the Art World. Mrs. Casarez is in her second year as an art teacher, and students and faculty members have told her to keep up the excellent work with her students. The atmosphere in school has changed tremendously due to her artistic work. She teaches her students with humility, respect, and loving care to make them shine and boost their self-esteem, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic. She shows them that having social-emotional issues is alright. She is involved in her after-school Art Club Program and holds art shows within the school. She has a level of excellence from her college professors, who have always shown her artwork. She is committed to working harder this year, taking the students to the VASE competition, and having a downtown art show to show her students' artwork. She spends a lot of her money to buy incentives and art supplies that some students can't afford. She is committed to showing her talents to students to inspire them to choose art as an elective and become art teachers in the future.

Art is a beautiful talent that needs to be shared and shown to the world. Mrs. Casarez's students will succeed and become artists in our society. She has the core values implanted in her students: Integrity, Honesty, Respect, Creativity, Growth, and Service. She is always thinking about the next projects she'll be doing with her students. Mrs. Casarez is always on the go, and she keeps demonstrating to the students that hard work will pay off towards the end. She believes that each student will succeed and be a good role model in today's society.
