LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Doug Wilson was nominated by an anonymous family member.

Mr. Wilson does more than teach his students. He plays basketball with them, listens when they want to talk, and actually understands their concerns.  Mr. Wilson is well loved by both students and staff.  He was nominated and chosen as Classified Employee of the Year several years ago.  That honor was very important to him because he gives his all every single day.  

Right now he's working Saturday school even though his Saturdays are usually spoken for.  If he's needed, he's there, no questions asked. He never makes the students feel bad about not knowing something - rather, he takes the time to explain things on their level to help them learn, grow and feel good about themselves.  His students pay it forward by helping each other in class.  He takes a firm but fair approach to discipline, and his students appreciate the respect he affords them.

Mr. Wilson maintains a positive relationship with other staff members on and off the job, and can often be found participating in activities like adult league basketball and softball.

"He has definitely become a LifeChanger on many levels since being hired by the Mojave Unified School District!" his nominator said.
