Jennifer Bisson was nominated by Sara Palmisano, a parent of a student.

"Our daughter is one of those soft-spoken, introverted, caring kids," explains Palmisano. "Enrolled in preschool to help expand her world, she (and we) anticipated having a few kids she already knew in her kindergarten class, but it didn't happen. It was a very difficult adjustment, and I'm convinced the only reason why her year turned out to be as fabulous as it was, was because of her teacher, Jen Bisson."

"Jen's caring personality, gentle guidance, and pushing for those young children to not only learn, but learn of each other and general helpfulness, helped to make our daughter an engaged student. For example, Jen gave each student a laminated photo of her with them. Our daughter still has that proudly displayed in her room, and she's now 12 years old," said Palmisano.

Throughout her years teaching kindergarten, Ms. Bisson was frequently thought of as one of the best teachers at the school. She changed roles a few years ago and began to teach grades 3 and 4. Then, she moved on to being a math coordinator to help children struggling with the concepts. With a family of adopted and biological children, Ms. Bisson inspires everyone. Her family's struggles are real (one of their children is currently battling cancer), yet she remains positive in facing those horrific challenges. She supports her family and helps them understand the importance of everyday life.

"Jen exemplifies the multitude of ways that an educator can impact many lives in so many ways," said Palmisano.

Jen is a wonderful person and educator. My son had her as his kindergarten teacher last year before she had to step down to care for her sick child. He adored her and was very sad to see her go. She is kind and genuine and brought out the best in my son. She is a very deserving nominee.
