Music that Describes Susan

Susan Kilberis was nominated by her friend and former colleague Mary Gilbert.

"I have know Susan Kilberis for over 20 years," explains Gilbert.  "I met Mrs. Kilberis when my children started kindergarten in 1992.  Mrs. Kilberis has been teaching kindergarten students for over 35 years. She is so kind, loving, and caring with all of her students.  She is the most requested teacher I know.  Every incoming kindergarten student has heard of Mrs. Kilberis, and they all want to be in her class."

I met Mrs. Kilberis when I came to Acreage Pines 5 years ago. From the beginning, she was welcoming, friendly, and supportive. We often crossed paths in the resource room, long after everyone else had left school, while preparing materials for our students. She devoted so much of her own time to do the best for all her students. I always admired that about her and enjoyed sharing our brief talks and words of encouragement and her cheerful smile and sense of humor. She is truly one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever met, and she will be missed by students and staff alike. And I want to thank her for sending me, as a first grade teacher, students who were well prepared and paperwork that was always thorough and complete:)

Mrs. Kilberis was not only my daughter’s kindergarten teacher, she was my nephew’s and both my grandkids. We had a wonderful experience with her every year. She is the sweetest, caring and professional teacher I’ve ever experienced. Our entire family loves her.

I don’t know how to put into words how much I respect and admire Susie Kilberis. As the former ESE coordinator at the school I could always count on Mrs. Kilberis. When I had no idea where to put a challenging student she was always welcoming. She has the amazing ability to see the good in all children. Even after 35 years of teaching she not only loves every child but she also enjoys every child every day. She has truly been a God send for so many families and children over the years. She is one amazing teacher and she will be sorely missed! Also she was my nephews kindergarten teacher and she will forever be known in my family as the BEST KINDERGARTEN TEACHER EVERRRRR! We love you Mrs. Kilberis!!

Mrs. Kilberis hold a very special place in my heart. Both of my boys have had the privilege of having her as a teacher. She taught my youngest this past year during her last year of teaching and she was phenomenal. Her dedication to students remained the same until she walked out of the school for the last time to begin the next chapter of her life. He is deserving of so much good. ??

I had the pleasure of working aside Ms. Kilberis along with her teaching my child. She is the most amazing teacher and always puts her students before herself. She is very deserving of this award

Susie is a remarkable person. I have had the privilege of knowing her as a parent of a student she had in kindergarten, and also working with her professionally. Susie taught her students with passion and fidelity throughout the 10 years I've known her, through some incredibly difficult personal circumstances, through COVID, through life's daily ups and downs, and through her last year before retiring. Not once did she falter. I have also witnessed Susie performing countless acts of kindness. She is a humble soul and does these things very discreetly, but each act has made an impact on the person she is helping and has inspired me and others to follow suit. Examples of these generous actions include purchasing prescription lenses for a student whose family couldn't afford them, and supporting colleagues through financial contributions and words of encouragement and kindness during their times of need. Susie is a class act and someone we should all aspire to be like. She is one-of-a-kind. She has made a difference in MANY lives, my life being one of them.

I had the chance to meet Susie during my first year of teaching back in 2016. As a new teacher, Susie was such a breath of fresh air. It was her, among others, that gave me the courage to be the best I could be. He gentle nature and hunger to continue learning and growing, is something I still value today. It’s people like her that push educators to their fullest potential. I am luckily to have crossed paths with her and that she continues to touch those in my life that she encounters. She is so deserving! The Abreu’s love you!

I would like to say I am only a small piece of the puzzle in creating a wonderful environment for children. We have approximately 85 dedicated adults working to help all our children learn and grow. We all work together to inspire our children to be the best they can be.

I would like to nominate Mrs. Kilberis because she was one of the first teachers that I met at the Acreage Pines this year and one of the best. She was very welcoming and has a lot of good qualities. Friendly, sweet and very kind. I will miss her at the lunch room. Good luck in your retirement. You will be missed. Stay safe keep in touch.:)
