Music that Describes Kristen
Kristen Khan was nominated by her colleague, Ruth Herbert.
"Kristen Khan has been a teacher at Hoke County High School for ten years but has spent her entire life in our county," explains Herbert. "She has always treated each student as a family member due to her multiple ties to our community."
She recognizes the need for basic supplies and strives so hard to provide women's empowerment. In an area where 29.6% of residents are impoverished, Ms. Khan wanted to help young men and women by bringing the community together to provide students with prom dresses, dress suits, makeup, jewelry, and alterations. Through constant solicitation, traveling, running to the dry cleaners, and collecting and organizing donations, she started an entire campaign to help students who cannot afford formal dresses and suits to attend one of the most memorable events so far in their lives.
She received over 200 outfits in all sizes and held an event where young men and women could choose an outfit and get it altered to fit them while receiving makeovers and jewelry on the same day. Her event lasted from 9 AM until 2 PM. The halls were filled the entire time with young people's enthusiasm and heightened sense of self-esteem. She has continued to supply students with attire during her planning so that all students are served, whether they were able to attend the event or not. Students, many females, were met with the love and guidance of teachers who were willing to help them feel beautiful.
"In our area, we have many absent parents, and many of our students are in foster care or have an assigned guardian," said Herbert. "This love and attention were appreciated by not only the students, but the teachers. Many happy tears were shed during this event. Both teachers and students felt the joy that helping a student find self-esteem and overcome a financial barrier to attend such an important function has on individuals."
She is a very great teacher and is always trying to help ger community. One thing that she has done that helped many children was the free prom dresses that gave a girl to look and feel pretty for their junior or even senior year prom. I had a great experience talking to her and the cotton candy she made me was delicious! She is amazing all around and I love her spirit. She is a great asset and help to Hoke High and she made my senior year great with everything she has done.
She is a very great teacher and is always trying to help ger community. Mrs. Kristen has been an absolute delight. Not only has she been an amazing educator, but she is also one of the best supports systems you can have.
Mrs. Kristen takes great pride in being there for her students. It could be in the classroom, at sports meets, and more. You will always have an amazing cheerleader by your side.
The enthusiasm, uplifting
Man I could right a whole book about Krissy, but I’ll try and keep it short and simple.. I met Krissy my 9th grade year in high school mostly because of her brother but ever since I met her she always made me better each day! She encouraged me everyday to be a better person in school and with sports. Krissy, her brother and her husband were always great to me! Having her as a teacher was the best but having her as a lifetime friend will always be better. I will always cherish the moments we all had together especially when it came to wrestling! Her and her husband always came to my matches when it was at the school and I thank them for that. My favorite memory was when I was in 9th grade and I was wrestling on the grass at lunch and I hear her from the other side of the lunch area saying “your doubles weak” ???? and we were dying laughing but I will forever love you and your family Krissy! Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, taught me and helped me with through school, sports and life! I hope you win this!
I’m so proud of my nephew’s wife she is a strong kind hearted soul who is loved by all. Her students always come back to see her after they have graduated or moved to a higher grade. She is so loving and her students friends and family always go out of there way to support her as she supports them. She is a dedicated loving caring teacher who deserves to win this nomination GO TEAM KRISSY
I’am so proud of my wife and no one is more of a life changer than her, regardless of what the outcome of this nomination is (which I think she should win). She is a dedicated,caring, and loving spouse, mother, teacher, daughter, and friend. Krissy has done so many amazing things for Hoke County High School, all while balancing being the best mom and military wife she can be. Everyone who knows us, knows that she has had to care of our family, be an amazing mom and teacher, while dealing with me being gone to fulfill yet another military duty/assignment.
She is the strong, heartfelt, and cares about every child that comes into her class and even the ones she doesn’t teach and manages to leave a long lasting impression in these children's heart and mind. I am extremely proud of everything she accomplishes inside and outside of the classroom and by creating a program to allow these young men and woman to feel special on long lasting tradition of “Prom Night”.
Most adults do not really remember the details of their graduation, classes they took, or have a lot of memories of high school, but I guarantee that most do not forget their Prom. Statistically, students do not go to prom due of the cost, or they don’t own a dress and or suit. By Krissy creating this “clothes closet and providing dresses and suits with a little help from the community will forever leave a lasting impression on these young impressionable minds. Krissy has shaped the youth at Hoke County High School, and is restoring faith in society by being a role model for her own children, the children of this community and the rest of the staff in the Hoke County Education Department.
It doesn’t matter if she wins this award or not, she and everyone else knows that she is a life changer and will continue to do so regardless if she wins this award or not. Her children, students, and family could not be more proud of her!!!
Mrs. Khan is the greatest English teacher I know. She would help you, when you struggled in certain area's. She would go out her way to help students and faculty. If you needed something she was the teacher to ask.
Ms. Khan finds a way to make everybody smile and she's genuinely one of the few, truly great teachers at Hoke High.

Mrs khan is a very bright and polite teacher, this is all I can think of because I am not good with words but this is the truth.
Mrs. Khan is the reason I became a teacher. I am a first year teacher and she not only helped me with the process of being hired, she has continued to be a team player and help me with anything I might need all year long. She has a fantastic rapport with her students and works very hard to build relationships as well as minds. Just this year alone she has provided feminine products to female students, prom dresses as well as accessories, and clothing to any student through her clothing closet. She’s always the first one willing to help a student or coworker. I am so thankful to have a mentor like her.
I have known Krissy most of her life! Even as a child she had a caring loving heart! Always the first to answer any call for help! I am soo proud of the woman she has become! She manages a career, mother of two amazing girls and still makes herself available to anyone or cause that she can to help others!! What an asset not only to the school but everywhere she shines her light!!

Kristen is a wonderful teacher. She has held a zeal for education since we were in elementary school and she tries to impart that zeal for learning into EVERY STUDENT she teaches.

I've never been her student, but the things I've heard about her are phenomenal. She helped with prom, she went out of her way and got dresses for prom. She held an event at Hoke county high school and sold them. The dresses and beautiful, some of the dresses were free. She is a nice and a giving person. Shen is also that person to talk to if anything is on your mind.

One of the most thoughtful, caring, and helpful teachers i have ever met. She collected so many dresses jewelry, bags, etc. for prom and gave them away for free. She helps whoever she can as much as possible and i admire her so much for that.

Ever since I started my junior year I’ve always felt welcome by Ms.Khan. She began putting feminine products in the girls bathroom so that all the girls had something In case of emergency. She also started up skelly’s boutique, a program to get prom dresses to the girls who couldn’t afford them. When I tried on my dress she made me feel really good in it, and when she saw me at prom and told me again how amazing it looked, she made my night so much better. I’ve always felt safe to come and talk to her and I would hate going through high school without her <3
Mrs. Khan is one of a kind! She truly teaches from the heart. Mrs. Khan takes the time to care about and listen to the students that no one else wants in their classrooms (even when she probably could have used a listening ear of her own). I recently moved here about 2 months ago and was having trouble finding how to use Canvas. I literally went all over the school asking people how to use it and nobody knew how to help me. Luckily Mr.s Khan was standing out her door and she was able to help me figure it out. I don't know much about her, but everything I've heard about her since I moved here makes her seem like a fantastic person both in school and outside of school.

Krissy found her nitch in life with teaching. She is constantly trying to figure out ways to help her students be the best they can be and by maintaining that she will be a life changer for so many. It takes one teacher to make you think different about what you are capable of doing with your life. She thrives to make sure they all know they are able to do so much more than they could even imagine. She has found a way to make getting clothes out of the clothing closet cool by encouraging all kids to use it so that the ones that really do need it are able to get what they need and not feel less than they should. Krissy spends her summers getting money together for personal hygiene items for her students. There are so many things that many of us do not realize that many kids do not have basic necessities. It’s teachers like Krissy and her colleagues that change these kids lives. I know if she were to receive this award it would help her to continue doing what she loves and that is changing the world one kid at a time.

Krissy Khan works tirelessly to promote our students' whole student body through going above and beyond to provide material and psychological help. In addition to hosting and collecting the Prom Dress Event, she also has received her Special Education certification so that she can work with her students with IEP's more effectively. She often helps us all with issues that we may have so that we can all effectively teach each student at Hoke. She is also certified in grief counseling, which she uses to help her collogues and her students. These certifications have been obtained in order to better serve her classes and work with her collogues rather than pursuing another job. She felt that this was needed to form proper relationships with her students because, "Relationships directly influence learning." She is a wonderful mother, daughter, wife, sister, coworker and friend who is committed to serving her community and her entire county.

15 years ago, I taught Krissy here at the high school. I am so proud of the way she uses her talents in the area she grew up in. This area needs great teachers, and she knows how to reach these students. She gives so much to this school, and she gives so much back to this community. She is deserving of ant accolades that come her way.

I’ve known Mrs.Khan for what feels like forever. My senior year (2014) I used to go down to her room during her planning and practice for my senior project (because I was a big cry baby and couldn’t do it in front of my actual English class) and then we would sit and cry about it until she said something that made me laugh and all was right in the world again. She’s always supported me both personally and professionally and I can’t thank her enough! She truly is a life changer, and I’m beyond thankful to have her in my life always
