Brenda Eastin was nominated by Danielle Ullom, the parent of a student.
"Brenda Eastin is absolutely the definition of a LifeChanger," said Ullom. "Brenda truly cares about the students and staff in our school district and goes above and beyond to prove that she cares daily."
She ensures everyone is fed, regardless of whether or not they have lunch money in their account. She spends hours, whether her day is technically done or not, ensuring that the kitchen is operating and all needs are met.
Ms. Eastin has been with her district for over 20 years. She is a great leader, an outstanding role model, and is always professional. Her positivity sets the mood for the whole school and encourages all to keep moving forward towards better and brighter things. She is constantly working overtime to ensure her students are fed, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or even a snack. If the kids are hungry or need a listening ear, they know they can always go to Ms. Eastin, who will be there with open arms no matter the time of day.
"Having been at our district for over 20 years, she has seen many generations of families. In fact, Brenda was my lunch lady when I was in school, so I have first-hand experience with her compassion and care for our district's kids," said Ullom. "It is refreshing and brings peace to mind to myself and many other parents, new and alumni like myself, that we have Brenda to continue to care for our kids. She has saved many kids' lives and doesn't even realize the impact she has on our community and district. She is always aware of which families are struggling financially. She ensures that no one has to ask, 'Will I get to eat today?' Brenda cares for all and never worries about what she could gain or benefit."

Mrs.Brenda is always very kind to everyone. She is always trying to make good lunches for us. I know she gets to school at five am to make everyone's lunches.
I like that she expands our options and gives us better lunches than most schools. I also like that she puts up with our crap in the lunchroom. She is also really nice when she asks for our number and says thank you every single time, and I mean EVERY single time. So this is what I like about Miss Brenda.
Miss Brenda puts food on the bus for field trips. It's even different from regular school lunch. It also tastes slightly different from the great school lunch.
What I love about Miss Brenda is that she cares for all of the students like they were her own children. She always asks please and and says thank you to EVERY SINGLE student that comes to her. I'm so astonished that she makes the time for us to sit at a desk every school week and ask for people's lunch numbers so she can keep track of everything. She is amazing towards the students and is never rude to them. She is fantastic at her job.

I have known Brenda for well over 20 years. She fed my three children for all of those years, and taught my children manners, and nutrition. When social media portrayed school lunches as uninspiring and apitiful excuse for a meal, our kids could never relate, because they are so well fed everyday. Children need stability in their lives, and seeing Miss Brenda every day there to feed them is something they will never forget. Imagination and resourcefullness, kindness and love are all qualities of this incredible "lunch lady" hundreds of children have known throughout the years.

My name is Amanda Love. I am new to district this year as the Registered Nurse. When first meeting Ms. Brenda she welcomed me with her warm smile and her genuine kindness. We found out 30 minutes before we were to go to a game that the school we were going to did not have concessions. In 20 minutes she made 35 sandwiches for our teams without hesitation so the kids would have something to eat. She also provided snacks for athletes after school so they would have something before and after practice.

Ms. Brenda has been amazing to my entire family since we moved to Kiowa last year. She has always been very welcoming and has always made sure everyone is well fed throughout our elementary, middle and high schools. Brenda is truly exceptional, and her impact on the Kiowa community is truly remarkable. Brenda is definitely a life changer. Not only was she my lunch lady when I attended Kiowa High School, but she also happens to be my Aunt. She has helped encourage me to be a better person ever since I was young. I love hearing how kind she always is to everyone and even more I love seeing it with my own eyes. I know first hand that Brenda is a life changer, she’s my big sister. Brenda has always been a nurturer, from helping our Mom with me when I was a baby, to helping me shape and mold my own girls, to making sure Mom had everything she needed. I am a parent of a Kiowa High School graduate and former employee of the district. I had the opportunity to work with Brenda who welcomed me and answered questions for me. Most importantly, I saw how hard Brenda works every day well beyond her regular hours to be sure what needs to get done is done. She does it for the students and even goes above and beyond preparing meals for field trips and community events that help the school district. I have known Brenda for as long as I can remember and her care for children and her compassion for others stands out most in my mind. She has a passion for making others happy and a love that is seen by so many.
Miss Brenda has been a part of my life for the last 7 years. Working together at Kiowa Schools, I get to see the inside that most people don’t. She is a problem solver and will never leave anyone unheard. From the babies in the toddler room all the way to 12th grade she does special things that go above and beyond expectations. She ensures safe and healthy food for littles, listens to kids requests about menu changes, always makes sure kids eat even if there’s no money in their account, hosts a special day for seniors, 8th grade, and 5th grade to vote and have their favorite meal, packs field trip meals, participates in breakfast each morning even hosting tables for National Prayer Day with various breakfast items. Her famous line to me is always, “I don’t know right now, but we will figure it out!” This type of mentality is exactly what it takes to be the angel of our school. There is no way we could do it without her!
As a parent, she comes and asks what my picky child likes to eat, reminds me in person about needing money in my account, and we have lots of conversations about our families. She is more than just the lunch lady, she is Miss Brenda!

Danielle has said it all. I have worked with Brenda for almost 20 years. No child in Kiowa School District goes hungry. In this day and age of social media bashing school lunches, the lunches that Brenda serves out shine any that I have seen. The aroma of homemade rolls, italian spices on rigatoni day, and feeling full after supersizing lunch on pizza day, all satisfy the hunger of our kids. No child goes hungry here. She is always at school before us all, and often still there when we go home. The kitchen is sparkling clean, and run economically. She now even serves her Grandchildren lunch everyday. She has been a friend, always concerned about how your day has gone. She is stability in an often unstable world.
I don't know how you begin to describe someome as wonderful and amazing as Mrs. Eastin. She became a light in my life when I was a student and I am beyond blessed to now have her as a light in my childrens lives while they are students. I have seen her first hand work harder than anyone I know to care for her school and district. She is a Life Changer and more. Past, present, and future.
We send our kids and grandkids off to school each day praying someone else will love on them when we can’t be there. Brenda has watched over the children in this community for generations.
