Erica Jones was nomianted by Nicolina Sneed, a parent of a student.
"I have come to know Mrs. Erica Jones because she is a sixth grade teacher at Belle Chasse Middle School, where my son attends as a sixth grade student," explains Sneed. "Since he was in kindergarten, I have always asked my son how his day was, and he would tell me the odds and ins of the day and so on. This year, when I ask him, he tells me how much he enjoys Mrs. Jones's class, and that she is his favorite teacher of all time. We have had wonderful teachers throughout his years in school, but he hasn't connected with one like this."
"Mrs. Jones teaches math, which is my son's favorite subject. She has created an enviroment where he is execelling in a hard year with COVID exposure, kids being at home, etc. If he misses a day, she allows him to sit in on his recess time to work on his math. As a parent, I definitely wanted to met the person who is his favorite teacher. When I did meet her, I found her to be very personable. She loves teaching kids, and she definitely has a way of making you feel welcomed. I have also recently learned that she does tutoring on the side and offers her help to any child who asks," said Sneed.
"Mrs. Jones posted something on her page that I feel defines her teaching career: 'She teaches because she is passionate about making a difference in children's lives, to be the one who can change their life trajectory and to love and believe in them until they believe it themselves.' She has done this for my son. She loves him and encourges him to do and be his best every day. As a parent, I appreciate the new perspective on life that she is giving to him, in a world where he is getting closer and closer to being an adult. My husband and I want him surrounded by family, friends, and teachers who will help him excel in life," said Sneed.
"To our family, she has made a difference in my son's life as a teacher. She has provided him with a wonderful envoriment to learn, and she is commited to her students and all of their successes. I am very honored to have met Mrs. Jones this year through my son, and I want her to know that she has had an impact on his life this year. I hope she knows how much we apperciate her as a teacher," said Sneed.
