Erica Jones was nomianted by Nicolina Sneed, a parent of a student.

"I have come to know Mrs. Erica Jones because she is a sixth grade teacher at Belle Chasse Middle School, where my son attends as a sixth grade student," explains Sneed.  "Since he was in kindergarten, I have always asked my son how his day was, and he would tell me the odds and ins of the day and so on.  This year, when I ask him, he tells me how much he enjoys Mrs. Jones's class, and that she is his favorite teacher of all time.  We have had wonderful teachers throughout his years in school, but he hasn't connected with one like this."

"Mrs. Jones teaches math, which is my son's favorite subject. She has created an enviroment where he is execelling in a hard year with COVID exposure, kids being at home, etc.  If he misses a day, she allows him to sit in on his recess time to work on his math.  As a parent, I definitely wanted to met the person who is his favorite teacher.  When I did meet her, I found her to be very personable. She loves teaching kids, and she definitely has a way of making you feel welcomed. I have also recently learned that she does tutoring on the side and offers her help to any child who asks," said Sneed.

"Mrs. Jones posted something on her page that I feel defines her teaching career: 'She teaches because she is passionate about making a difference in children's lives, to be the one who can change their life trajectory and to love and believe in them until they believe it themselves.' She has done this for my son. She loves him and encourges him to do and be his best every day. As a parent, I appreciate the new perspective on life that she is giving to him, in a world where he is getting closer and closer to being an adult. My husband and I want him surrounded by family, friends, and teachers who will help him excel in life," said Sneed.

"To our family, she has made a difference in my son's life as a teacher. She has provided him with a wonderful envoriment to learn, and she is commited to her students and all of their successes. I am very honored to have met Mrs. Jones this year through my son, and I want her to know that she has had an impact on his life this year. I hope she knows how much we apperciate her as a teacher," said Sneed.

Mrs. Jones has connected so well with my son that I wish he could have her throughout his school years!! She's a great communicator and I love that about her! She calls and updates me on my daily progress good or bad!! It's amazing how much my son trust her! If he was having a bad day in other class he would go to Mrs Jones! I absolutely love the connection my son has with Mrs Jones! She really goes above and beyond her duties as my son teacher and I can't emphasize enough how much I appreciate her!!

Miss Jones has been so wonderful to our family and made such a difference for my son. I can not think of anybody more deserving of this nomination than her. She was my sons 6th grade math teacher last year. He has always struggled with math and last year was no different. When I spoke with Mrs. Jones and found out that in her off time she offered tutoring we jumped on it. He moaned and groaned Like most typical teenagers about extra time with his teacher. But every day when I picked him up he was laughing and he learned and his grades improved dramatically!!! She didnt just help him with math. She helped in every subject. She would go through his backpack with him and clean it out or help him organize. She set up meetings for us with his other teachers. She was a counselor to me when I would get frustrated with his attitude or typical teenage boy stuff. He would not have made it to seventh grade without her and for that I will forever be thankful. She is an amazing teacher! A kind caring soul that goes above and beyond not just for her students but for their parents too! My son asked me this year when he realized he needed help in math again to ask Mrs. Jones if she would tutor him again. No moaning and groaning. He happily goes every week and he is better for it. He makes her laugh and she gives him so much more than knowledge! We love her. She changed our lives for the better.

Mrs Erica tutors my son Landon 3 days a week in honors math and english. She also assist him with homework in all subjects. My son's father passed away at the beginning of the school and She has also helped him work through his grief. Some afternoons he asks to go to tutoring when in reality he only wanted to see her and talk to her about his day. or whatever was on his mind. My son has remained on the honor roll through the school year and we both owe it to her. When She knows landon has an important test, she will call during our commute to school to give him a pep talk and often times he will call her immediately when he gets in the car to tell her of his test grades. She is an amazing teacher, friend and role model.

Mrs Jones is a life changer to my daughter Tenley. Tenley has always struggled with Math. This year her wonderful teacher had to leave due to having cancer. Mrs Jones immediately took Tenley and worked with her to make sure she wouldn’t fall behind. Mrs Jones goes above & beyond for her students! Thank YOU Mrs. Jones for all you do & for changing lives everyday!

Mrs. Jones has been so wonderful To our family for the past 2 years. She was my sons math teacher last year and he struggles in math. BIG TIME! When she saw him struggling last year she reached out to us and let us know she would be happy to help with some extra tutoring if we would like. We immediately took her up on this and she ended up being a game changer for him. He is a teenage boy so he acted too cool for school and pretended he didnt like going but he made huge improvements in his grades. She always encouraged him to believe in himself and be the best he could be. She was able To relate to him on his level And made math enjoyable for him. She also went above and beyond and was a counselor to us as well. She talked me off the “frustrated mom” ledge multiple times! She helped with setting up meetings for us with his other teachers and would help With all subjects if he had a big test or something important due. My son is terrible about reporting things he had to do or turn in at school and Mrs. Jones made sure we were always in the loop. We were so sad to move onto 7th grade because we would be loosing Mrs. Jones as a teacher but when my son started to struggle this year in math he approached us and ASKED FOR Mrs. Jones to tutor him again. This is HUGE because he is not that kid! He always fought anything extra with school. But he LOVES Mrs. Jones!!!! They just click. He makes her laugh and she gives him so much more than knowledge. Mrs. Jones was born to be a teacher!!! She is kind and caring and makes each student feel like they are important. I cant think of anyone more deserving of this nomination! We love her! We are grateful she came into our lives! She makes such a huge difference every single day and goes above and beyond for all her students! ????????

Mrs. Erica Jones is definitely a life changer for my daughter, and here’s why we nominate her. Mrs. Erica Jones has helped my daughter Chyia Moliere with her studies since 6th grade, in every way possible. However, she isn’t just a great support to her academically, but she also supports Chyia mentality as she has been bullied since elementary school and Mrs. Jones helps us to remind Chyia how special she is and it really means a lot! Mrs. Erica Jones, is truly a life changer as well because she seen the potential in my daughter and helped her so much last year that Chyia received the most improvement award, as both of their hard work paid off. It’s now only right to pay it forward to a teacher most deserving of this award, and it’s the one and only Mrs. Erica Jones! We love you and appreciate all you do for our family and BCMS!
