LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Jeanne Miller was nominated by her colleague, Tina Kimmons.

"Mrs. Miller is one of our best teachers," explains Kimmons. "She truly cares about the students. Her classes are strenous, as she wants her students prepared for college. She has added ACT Prep to her daily lessons, as well as character education to her weeky lessons."  

Mrs. Miller teaches her craft well and goes out of her way to help the students. She once took a large group to one of the state's major universities. While there, the students not only toured the campus, but she set up museum tours on the campus as well. She has also revitalized her school's Beta Club, expecting the members to be role models for the school. The members are involved in the community and complete service hours during each of the nine weeks and over the summer, as well. Additionally, she started Envirothon at her school, which is is an academic competition that focuses on soil, wildlife, aquatics, forestry, and a current environmental issue. 

"If something comes across my desk that I think would be beneficial to the students, Mrs. Miller is the one teacher I can count on to present it to the students as a great opportunity, and find a way to get them to be able to participate. Just before Christmas holidays started, she invited professionals to come and train interested students in CPR, AED, and general First Aid training. This is the second year she has done this, and 60 students received this valuable, life-saving training.  I firmly believe Mrs. Miller is a life-changing educator," said Kimmons.
