Darky Arocho was nominated by her colleague, Anna Sewell.
Ms. Arocho goes above and beyond for her special needs students by finding an appropriate curriculum for her students and working with each of them individually. She also purchases things for her students out of her pocket that she knows will benefit them. She celebrates every student's birthday with individual gifts she purchases for them. Ms. Arocho does the same at Christmas and the end of the year. She stays in constant contact with parents so they know exactly what is going on and never have any doubts.
Ms.Arocho is such an amazing person not just in her professional job as a teacher but as a friend, and a coworker. She goes above and beyond her title to make sure that each student needs are met and that they have everything that they need. She deserves all the amazing and incredible awards out there!!

Ms Arocho has helped make my son’s transition for middle school to high school a success. Not only did she meet with us before the school year started, she also introduced us to other key staff and administrators. She’s never too busy anytime I have a question or concern. She’s patient, kind AND compassionate. I’m so glad she’s a part of our caring community.

I knew from the day that I met her that she would have an impact on my son. We just got stationed here over the summer and I have witnessed so many goals that my son has accomplished with her. I truly believe he loves her and she loves him. I’m beyond grateful that God has placed her in our lives. She is truly an amazing person and educator.
Ms Arocho is an excellent teacher. She has a very good knowledge of working with children with special needs, especially with autistic children. The most excellent of all about her is that she has the patience and strategies so that they feel comfortable in her classroom and gives all her support so that these children get the best of her as well as the school district . She looks for concrete alternatives so that our children with autism can obtain an education based on their ability by introducing a curriculum suitable for the ability of our children. The Unique curriculum goes with the expectations of our students. Thank you for being so excellent and always looking for the right way to work with our children and to understand them.
Working with Darky has been a pleasant experience. I've been able to learn a lot from her. Seeing her compassion and patience for her students has given me a whole new perspective on the education system. She treats them just as she does her own kids.

Such an outstanding individual, I've seen how she treats her own children and how she treats others, she is a giver, she is compassionate, caring and always goes beyond the call, she has a great heart and loves and will give her last with that big smile on her face. Darky is deserving in every area of her life! Her character and her humility to do for others will never go unnoticed. I have the pleasure to know Ms. Darky Arocho for almost two decades. She is a wonderful teacher and friend. I have a special needs teenager that goes to her school and even though he is not in her classroom she is always aware of him. She deserves to be nominated to #lifechangeroftheyear and beyond. Ms.Arocho is a great caring teacher for each student she has . She goes above and beyond to make sure student and parents both are comfortable with our classroom. I am lucky to be one of her Paraprofessionals she makes sure that all students needs are taken care of with a little bit of mom, superhero personality involved not only does she take care of students and parents but make her paras feel as we can do anything as well and makes sure we are taking care of ourselves along the way . She is a great teacher and strives to have our kids go home with a sense of pride and a knowing of family .
