LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Valerie Brown was nominated by one of her family members and the grandparent of a student. Below are quotes from her nominators. 

"I feel that Valerie is a LifeChanger for all students. She is a single mother who has always loved children. She goes above and beyond the expected duties for her students. Valerie works 12 hours a day working for the school and also as the director of the After School Care program at school. She always helps students financially when they are in need. Even when she's unable to give, she manages to work it out so that a child is helped. There are times when she gets phone calls at night and takes the time out to help a parent get the answers they need," said her family member. 

“I wanted to take a moment to call your attention to the after school program, which is such a wonderful environment for the children. Mrs. Brown and her staff are kind, loving people. Our granddaughter had a very rough start in life and kindergarten. Mrs. Brown has worked with our beautiful grandchild, building trust and helping her learn how to make friends.  I am now, and will forever be, grateful to her. Last night, they had their Christmas program for after school kids. It was amazing.  I must say, Mrs. Brown is one of the best! I pray she knows how she has affected the after school kids’ lives for the better. Our granddaughter is flourishing because of Mrs. Brown," said the grandparent.
