Jane Thompson was nominated by her colleague, Lea Blackledge Bellon.

"During one of our most difficult times worldwide, Dr. Thompson led the way with her innovative approach to virtual learning," explains Bellon. "She didn't hesitate to say: We can teach them from home and here's what we need and how we will do it. She trained teachers, students, and parents strategies to continue the educational process while they were unable to attend school in person. The road was long, hard, and full of obstacles and detours with no map available."

Regardless of the difficulties, Dr. Thompson continued to lead the way. Her expertise in the area of technology and curriculum is outstanding. She is eager to share new approaches and willing to adapt along the way as she learns and grows as well. Dr. Thompson continues to lead the way with the first ever Virtual Academy in the Gulfport School District.

"We learned that remote learning is not for every family; however, some students flourish in that setting.  As a result, Dr. Thompson has a team of teachers who teach students K-10 completely virtually. She's a perfect example of a LifeChanger, and we are proud to have her leading the way in the Gulfport School District," said Bellon.
