Bonnie Anderson was nominated by her colleague, Brenda Johnson.
Mrs. Anderson exceeds one’s expectations when it comes to the term "teacher." She exhibits the qualities of the kind of exemplary teacher we all aspire to be. Her commitment for producing and creating a positive school atmosphere is evident by her strong work ethic and faultless principles. Her classroom is composed of a nurturing atmosphere which translates to performances composed of well-mannered, young musicians who are excited to demonstrate their talent and hard work to others.
Mrs. Anderson has made a beneficial difference in the lives of her students, their parents, and the community. She provides an outlet to help meet the needs of her students by pulling together a team of counselors, community support, and other outreach programs. She and her students have performed at a plethora of venues. These performances have taught the students how important it is to give back to the community. The performances have been a great opportunity for the community to see and appreciate the positive impact schools have on the students.
In preparation for these programs, the students have learned what it truly means to approach learning with creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Mrs. Anderson encourages these students to have a caring manner that protects the safety, interest, and rights of all individuals in the classroom and school community. The students have developed leadership skills, problem-solving skills, time management efficacy, and meaningful communication thanks to Mrs. Anderson's expert guidance. Her programs offer opportunities that enrich the lives of her students.

"Bonnie’s accomplishments demonstrate her leadership within her school and district," said Johnson. "Being a retired assistant principal for Judson ISD, I have personally witnessed Bonnie’s efforts to grow in her leadership role. She gives back to the district by devoting her time to the Superintendent’s Advisory committee, Judson Leadership Institute, and Site-Based Decision-Making Committee. She is also a team leader for her school."
Mrs. Anderson maintains an excellent record of performance at the professional level. Her accomplishments alone for this year are amazing. She is Teacher of the Year for her school, district, and region.
"I will never forget the moment when I saw a sign in the yard that read 'Congratulations Teacher of the Year 2022' for the region," said Johnson. "I thought if anyone deserved it, Bonnie did. Bonnie went on to be one of six finalists for Teacher of the Year 2022 for the state. I personally saw how humble Bonnie was with all the excitement. I witnessed her tears as she reminded everyone that it takes a village to raise a child...She would say, 'I could not have done this without the help of my students, teachers, and parents, along with the Judson ISD community.'"
When Mrs. Anderson was a child, she was devastated when her elementary teacher told her she would not amount to anything. That was the moment when Mrs. Anderson decided she wanted to be a teacher. She wanted to help students believe in themselves and let each one know that they are important to this world. Mrs. Anderson knew she could do this through the love of teaching. She could retire this year, but she says she hasn’t finished her journey yet, and that she's sure she can still make a difference in the lives of more children.
“Not only that,” Mrs. Anderson would say, “but those children are still teaching me, too.”

Not only does Bonnie go above and beyond for her students, she is also helpful to her colleagues. She has brought beneficial professional development to her fellow music educators and helped get it paid for.
I've known Bonnie for a few years as a colleague, a fellow marimba teacher and friend. It is truly inspiring to hear and see all that she is doing for her students, both on her campus and outside of her campus. Ms. Bonnie Anderson is a true gem! She brings light, laughter and love into her classroom each day. I have gotten the opportunity to work very closely with Ms. Anderson at Judson ISD on multiple occasions, for either special feature videos or running her campuses social media/ website platforms. She continues to go above and beyond for her students inside and outside of the classroom! Judson ISD is beyond grateful to have an amazing educator like her within our classrooms.

Ms. Anderson is absolutely amazing. She helped cultivate the gift of music in both of my kids at Coronado Elementary many many years ago. They are now 24 and 22. I can still remember how excited they were to be able learn the recorder and perform then later the ukelele. I never knew the way Hawaii said Merry Christmas until then. I rushed to their concerts from work because of the love, patience, and dedication she had for them back then. I remember her telling me that both my girls were so talented that she had no idea which way they should go. That comment stayed with me as a parent. She was right! My oldest is super creative in arts of design and can harmonize better than me at her age. My youngest graduated last year in NY at one of the top performing arts schools in the country. She has been blessed to come home and work on a project with, Ms Anderson, the teacher that believed in her. They dont make many teachers like Ms. Anderson much anymore. I am forever grateful for her. I know the words she spoke to me way back then has helped me believe the limitless possibilities for my girls. May she be blessed and receive the highest honors for all she has poured out. She deserves it!!

Ms. Anderson introduced me to music lessons when I was in Coronado Elementary School. Thanks to her I learned to play marimba. I still remember my first performance at school, “Mbira Jam”. I am now in 6th grade and I still look forward every Tuesday to go to her class.

For all you do
Bonnie has made a huge impact in my children’s lives over the years. My daughter started seven or eight years ago in the more advanced group that Bonnie had at the elementary school. She excelled and got to be part of the traveling performance group and went on to Carnegie Hall. It has been a huge part of our lives for years and I have been very involved in the group as well. My son came up in the same elementary school and now is on the same performance group that my daughter is. During Covid my son had a hard time and the music is one of the things that did kind of help keep his head above the water and both of the kids were grateful to have those friends and family and music to help lift their spirits during those tough times. My children have learned a sense of teamwork and family and commitment and the value of hard work and determination. As they went on to middle school for my son and daughter and then now high school for my daughter they have continued to carry long the things that Bonnie helped start growing in them. They’re both exceeding in the Orchestra‘s at their schools and are still playing in her group today. They have a love for music and realization that if you work hard for something you can achieve your goals and I believe they are overall better children and they would’ve been if they had never met Bonnie Anderson. I consider Bonnie a good friend and I believe that she truly deserves this award.
Ms Anderson is the teacher I always wish I had growing up; I don't know how she does it! She puts countless hours into her groups in and out of school hours, and provides an environment full of enthusiasm and encouragement. Her skill set amazes me, she taught my son when he was in elementary, since then he’s been hooked and loves the environment she has created. I am immensely grateful for the positive impact she has on my son.
Ms. Anderson has taught me practically everything I know about music. Without her music would never have become the big part of my life it is today.
I have been Ms. Anderson’s principal for 17 years. She is the most inspiring, positive, “life changing” music teacher that I have ever known. Her students and parents have acquired a love for music and go out of their way to support their children in joining one of the multiple music groups she has built, taught and has had perform. She has had students enroll in the schools I have led because parents have wanted their child in “Ms. Anderson’s “ music classes. The families actually lived out of district. She is a super star educator!
My daughter Taylee has been in her class since she has been in 3rd grade and now she is in 6th grade and it has helped her in so many different ways! Her confidence to preform in front of big crowds because she used to not even preform in front of only me now she is preforming in front of many people! It also has helped her concentrate in school. She normally would always not be able to concentrate on one thing at a time but she has been improving since she joined the group. Have a Blessed day ??!
Ms. Anderson has been amazing for my daughter, Emily! Not only has she taught her how to play an instrument; she has taught her to have confidence and given her the courage to stand in front of a crowd and play. She has shown Emily she is capable of taking on a new experience and how to persevere when she isn’t sure. Amazing teacher!!!!
Mrs. Anderson has been working with you son after school learning the Marimba. Our son loves it and talking about it so much that we paid for more classes so he can finish out the school year learning with her. Her dedication and patience with her students has such a huge impact on them and their futures. I know we made the right choice letting him learn with her!
Bonnie anderson is the best teacher that I could ever meet. Mirimba is like my home away from home.
She has been super hands on with the students teaching them so many amazing songs on marimba. I was blown away listening to elementary school age children play their rendition of Crazy Train.
My grandson has known Ms. Anderson since he was in 1st grade, he is now a senior in high school. I can honestly tell you that she has been a big influence in his life. She taught him how to play the ukulele. She made time from her Christmas vacation to give my grandson free private ukulele lessons so he could make the cut to be in the Teen Church choir. That's how dedicated and devoted she is to her students. Because of Ms. Anderson my grandson developed a love of music. When my grandson was in 3rd grade he joined her Marimba group then he started playing the drums with the Marimba group. With her leadership they performed in many prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall in NYC. My grandson is so loyal to Ms. Anderson & to the group that he is a senior in high school and he is still part of the group. She has taught her music students to stay focused, work hard, have responsibilities, have patience, listening skills and above all to have fun while performing. Ms. Anderson has truly changed the life of my grandson to be the best version of himself. And for that we are very thankful!
I am not surprised that Bonnie has been nominated. For years I have seen her love of music being passed on to her students. She nurture's and inspires each one of her students to excel. Just watching the end results of one of her concerts speaks volumes. You walk away feeling blessed after seeing and hearing them perform. I don't have any children of my own in school, but Bonnie has taught 3 of my grandsons in her music classes. She is a most amazing teacher, but more than that, she is an amazing person.
In the time I have known Ms Bonnie Anderson, I have learned what an amazing woman she is. She loves teaching our kids, young men and women how to make the most awesome music with the utmost dedication to giving them a skill that they will appreciate and take with them where ever they go. They respect her because even though she makes them work hard, at the same time, she demonstrates a caring for every single one of them. She loves them and they love her back. Everyone always has something good to say about this wonderful woman that we consider ourselves privileged and honored to know. Bonnie has not only been a colleague but also a close friend over the past 15 years that I've known her. She has taught all 3 of my boys and was personally responsible for instilling the love of music within all of them. Because of her, I've raised 2 trombone players and a percussion player. Bonnie exposes kids to different types of music and fosters that love of music through their entire life, long after school. She is an amazing teacher and friend.

My appreciation for Ms.Anderson is far beyond words . She’s been on of the best teachers i’ve had and has been there for my my whole life since elementary . When I was in fourth grade, I was enrolled to a new school. And I never thought, at seventeen and a junior in highschool, I'd be so thankful for that. Ms. Anderson was the person who introduced me to a potential I never knew I had. It's truly amazing how much belief and love can affect one's spirit. Music has brought me a different vision to the world. I notice and tap along to familiar beats without realizing, I feel music in a different way than before. And I only tapped into this vision due to Ms. Anderson's confidence for me. I can firmly and truthfully say that she is definitely a Life Changer, because she's done exactly that for me, and plenty of other kids too.
As the 2020 GRAMMY Music Educator Award Recipient I have followed Bonnie’s journey for some time and her story and your passion is amazing. Few people can match the desire and dedication she shows to the art of music, the profession of teaching and the promise of those children she teaches. I met Bonnie Anderson when my daughter, who is now a senior in high school, started elementary school. My daughter kept telling me she wanted to take ukulele lessons from Ms. Anderson. Of course, I asked her how much the lessons would cost. To my surprise, she told me that the lessons were free. I have an older daughter who took music lessons at a different elementary school, but they were never free of charge. I knew then that there was something special about Bonnie Anderson. When other teachers were going home for the day, you could count on Ms. Anderson to stay after school giving music lessons. She was extremely dedicated to her students. You will never find a more hard working, loving, patient, kind, and humble music teacher than Ms. Anderson.
Miss Bonnie has made and Conroe to make an immediate and lasting impact on the students at Judson ISD Miller's Point ES. Her dedication and determination to assuring the students experience music as part of a comprehensive public education program is unparalleled. Her passion, care, and love of the learning process is evident in the success of the program and progress of her students. She goes above and beyond, developing public and private partnerships when public funding has failed to adequately provide the necessary support of her students. She deserves ALL the awards (in the current venacular)!!!
Ms. Anderson is a difference maker and has used her gift with music to allow students to share her passion. I have witnessed her students without limits of accepting the challenge to perform at high levels not knowing their full potential. She is empowering her students to go outside their comfort to do something very unique with their high level of experience with music. Her students feed off of her passion. Ms. Anderson is a phenomenal educator. She is constantly working hard and does anything possible to be the best. She gives her best effort to grow, improve and help her kids succeed. She maintains a balance in her life so that she is able to work hard four our students and still live her best life. She demonstrates diversity in a wide variety of subjects. Because of her diversity and experiences she is more open minded about opportunities and flexibility in her teaching style that enhance the kids love of music and other studies. This brings a great deal of positivity to our school kids and community. The kids light up as they perform music that Ms. Anderson has taught them to share with their school and community. I am always so excited when invited to one of her classroom music recitals. It is always a music and educational experience.

Sitting here behind the scene I am probably the only one that knows how much work you put into your passion. How many summers you’ve given up. How many instruments you bought children so they could replace the love they were missing. The past five years Saturdays at the school with the children. The nights crying because you felt you could not make a difference in the life of one of your students. Attending your students funeral so your students could play and his mother could hear the students play the Marimba an instrument her student loved.? The nights you cried on his anniversary of passing. This Student died of cancer and it was a long journey. But I saw him play the marimba in-his eyes lit up and that kept his mind off his cancer.
I saw your tears when you couldn’t attend your own children school events because you had a mandatory event at school, you felt you were letting your own children down, and they wouldn’t understand. I could go on and on but I think you get the message Bonny,It’s not what people see on the outside with teachers. It’s what they miss in the night.?? I must say the hardest part of me watching you on your journey as a teacher, is when you say to me, I have to tell them about God but I can’t. I must find away these children need help. Bonnie I know you’re not the only teacher out there who gives everything they got, but I think it’s time that we start letting this world understand what teachers go through. You’re an amazing teacher at heart? and I think God every day for allowing me to be a part of your journey. That is why I am making this nomination for you. I know you don’t want me to because people will be jealous and hateful because when we do good we tend to make others not look good?. Lord knows we both been through that before. So much we talk about every time we win something how many people are going to hate us? and stop talking to us. You were right, I should have kept going when I won teacher of the year for my school. I was so inspired by Bonnie Anderson when I went to watch my granddaughter play with the Marimba group at Coronado Elementary and at an event they played at outside the school. When I heard these kids playing a Santana song on Marimbas and just watching these kids really getting into the music they were playing, it inspired me so much, that I asked her if she had a class for adults. She didn't at the time, but did put a class together for us adults who wanted to enjoy playing music as much as the kids enjoyed playing music under Bonnie. I had a lot of fun. I love that she makes learning music really a lot of fun !!! And I mean a lot of fun for not only the kids, but for the audience watching the performances that she puts together. She definitely does deserve this award.
I can't wait to see what all she comes up with in the future with her music and the kids. She is definitely a game changer when it comes to educating.
Mrs. Anderson does an excellent job with the students. I love watching them perform. She is the reason why my daughter loves music class and playing her instrument. When it comes to the after school Marimba class, my daughter has requested, almost demands that she participates each quarter. I have been lucky to have worked with Bonnie and have her as my daughter’s music teacher. My daughter developed a passion for music not only from music class but her after school marimba and ukulele clubs that Bonnie leads. Bonnie Anderson had been a life line for me since I began teaching elementary music 7 years ago. She has taking her time and recourses to pour into other music teachers like myself. Bonnie Anderson goes above and beyond the classroom. She has been an been an inspiration for many children at Miller’s Point Elementary and other schools as well. She has devoted much of her personal time to teaching children Marimba at multiple levels.
Bonnie is inspiring to anyone that has the pleasure of meeting her. She has encouraged our grandson with after school classes and Mojo-Rimba. Our granddaughter also enjoys music classes in school.
She teaches children to support each other and work together. If one is struggling with a song, she has taught children to support each other and work together to help each other.

In all of my 13 years of schooling, I have never had a teacher who has even come close to how much Ms. Anderson has impacted me. She was the person who helped me discover my passion for music. She has given me a strong musical foundation, and has taught me so much about music. Even though she is no longer my music teacher, she has given me the resources and knowledge needed for me to continue my musical journey. She is definitely my most memorable teacher, and I will always cherish the numerous lessons she has taught me.

Bonnie is amazing! She is a talented music director, teacher, and consummate professional. She is truly a shining light in her school district and she has a way of making sure every child not only develops a love of learning, but also a love of music.
Bonnie Anderson is our granddaughters music teacher in the 4th grade. Our g-daughter has found a new love of music since she has been in Bonnie Franklins music class. I have always been in music myself since an early age, also due to a music teacher in grade school. Our g-daughter is autistic and somewhat withdrawn. I have attempted to get her interested in playing music, singing in a choir etc., however she wanted to even talk about it, much less try it. Thanks to Bonnie, this has all changed and now our
g-daughter now is playing the marimbas at the school and having a blast. She’s always talking about music and is eager to learn to play more. She had even asked me to teach her guitar. She was in a school program around Christmas time, on a stage, with other students and had a great time. Something she would never even have considered doing 6-7 months ago. We could not be happier..Thanks to our teacher Bonnie Anderson.
Ms. Anderson is an amazing teacher. She taught me when I was younger and help me realize my love for music and the fine arts. She also had the privilege of teaching my younger sisters and brother. She has made a huge impact on my family and everyone to this day knows the name Bonnie Anderson. :)
Bonnie Anderson has taught all 3 of my children not only in music, but also she taught an after school Ukulele program that all 3 of my children participated in. Two of my children went on to join Band and Orchestra. I believe Mrs. Anderson had and always will go above and beyond what is expected of her. And now my grandson is learning from this amazing and talented music teacher.

She is definitely a 5-star in the clarinet. I play clarinet too, and she helps me. She helped me reach the milestones of getting into district and regional band festivals.
More importantly, she’s trained me to play pieces I thought I couldn’t play. With her help, she is humble and fair. I love having that help relationship!!!

Over many years, I've watched Bonnie Anderson work her magic. Clearly, the kids are learning music as well as setting and reaching goals, working well with others, and leadership, I'm sure many kids, if not most, have increased confidence, and increased self respect. So happy for Bonnie's devotion and hard work.
As a Board member, I have had opportunities to attend functions across the State. When I see Ms. Bonnie Anderson's group performing it brings me great pride to showcase our Judson ISD students to our community. More impressive, is how Bonnie inspires her students to excel in whatever they dream of doing. I know her impact on developing students has been profound. We are so very fortunate to have a teacher of her caliber at Judson ISD.
I am the youngest of five children that Mrs. Anderson has taught. Growing up I remember watching my siblings experience a love for music that I couldn't understand. Even at a young age, I remember going to various concerts and recitals that led by Bonnie Anderson. Through her programs, I remember her patience, dedication, and devotion to every group to understand the world of music. To this day, as a sophomore in college, I can still say; I will never forget the empact Bonnie Anderson has had on my life.
Mrs.Anderson’s teaching methods positively impacted my daughter's development in the early years of elementary school. Her passion for teaching music to children transcends the classroom, opening the children's minds to new possibilities for their future.

Mrs. Bonnie Anderson was instrumental in my children’s success in high school and beyond. She told me the benefits of having the children in music. She said it help the kids in other area of their academics and it has prove true with my kids. I have 5 kids and all of them played an instrument because of that knowledge. All of them did wonderful in school and went on to college. The youngest 3 was in her music class but after seeing them excel in other areas,I encouraged the oldest 2 to take music and learn to play an instrument. She is so personable and made my children feel proud to be a part of her classes. We have daughters the same age and at one point they became best friends, so I really got to see the love and support that she gives to the children personally. She put on amazing programs and also has willing volunteers that love to support her. I would go to see her practice with the kids and she would build their confidence up so much that you could see it in their eyes that they could play whatever she asked for with excellence and pride. She told me that school offer free music classes but a lot of people don’t think it’s important. I saw it first hand in my kids life that it is more than about the music. It taught my kids discipline, teamwork, compassion and it triggered a love for learning in other areas. Rebekah Wynn is my daughter and she is Queen of Soul for Fiesta SA 20-21. She played the violin for her talent portion of the pageant. But I feel she got the self confidence of appearing in front of an audience at an early age to be able to compete. Mrs Bonnie Anderson has been blessing not only the children she has worked with over the years but also the schools and the community.
Bonnie is an amazing inspiration to the musical talented students in texas. She truly has an ear for music and has shared her instruction and desire for music to so many in her community.

Bonnie has been the best teacher for my boys. Even outside of music class she is there helping all kids with their needs. My 8 year old is so excited when Wednesday comes, because he gets to stay after school and do marimba group. He comes home and plays and sings everything they work on. He now wants her to teach him how to play the recorder and read the notes. Mom is fully capable of teaching him, but he only wants Mrs. Anderson to teach him. When she isn't at school he comes home grumpy and mad because wasn't able to see Bonnie at school. She is his favorite teacher and has been since she started teaching at Miller's Point Elementary. She is such a kind, loving, and giving person. Her personality is the perfect balance of sweet, calm and firm. Bonnie has been recognized for so many of her accomplishments, and it will never be enough for all the time, effort, work and love she puts into each individual she crosses paths with.
Bonnie is one of the most dedicated teachers I’ve ever known. She is passionate about giving her students opportunities. In addition to pouring her heart and soul into her work as a teacher and extracurricular music group leader at her school, she has also taught my daughter as a private clarinet teacher. She goes out of her way to give my daughter extra time and help her to prepare for competitions. Bonnie is the best!
Having had the glory to co-work for over 20 years with teacher from around the world and from Texas, has allowed me to immediately recognize a teacher whom’s students needs come first and forth-most . Bonnie Anderson always comes in as a second fiddle. As she teaches she , instill compassion and motivates a lifelong respect and love for music. She has drive in her to create an adoration for music, for life, for student confidence , for joy,…Bonnie is like no other, she truly is amazing. I am honored to know her and have worked with. My student could not wait for music class!!!

Bonnie Anderson led marimba groups my grandsons participated in. I was so impressed at how she matched the various types of marimbas to the personality and skill level of each student, enabling them to have success even at the raw beginner level. Her music programs are about much more than merely teaching music. Her program developed confidence, focus, perseverance and collaboration in my grandsons as they learned to help other group members and came to understand the importance of working together to achieve success. These characteristics went far beyond the music room, into their other classes, their homes and into the community. I’m proud of the young men they’ve become, in a significant part due to what they learned through Bonnie Anderson’s music programs.

Mrs. Anderson has impacted all 4 of my girls. My oldest are the ones that received more of Mrs. Anderson’s wonderful talent and lessons. My oldest girls are so super shy. Being in her music class in elementary turn them into a whole new person. They love the Marimba program which my two oldest started that program with her and it was just amazing all the opportunities they had were wonderful. Playing at Carnegie Hall was an experience they’ll never forget. To this day my 10th grader and 8th grader still help her if she needs them. Once you play those marimbas you can’t forget it! My youngest just received a little of her before switching elementary schools. Mrs. Anderson is an amazing person inside and out and has that passion for teaching little ones and any age! A mom of 4 girls she totally deserves that award and much more! Thank you Mrs. Anderson!

Mrs. Bonnie Anderson taught my two sons. One son was in her elementary school program and then both of them participated in the extracurricular music group. I am a witness of Bonnie’s amazing teaching skills. She has impacted my life so much outside of music. My mother taught me things I wouldn’t learn from some ordinary music teacher because she never fails to go above and beyond for her students. I have had years of music training and my skills have multiplied but they would be nothing If it wasn’t for her. I know my mom will win this because she is above the game and she worked hard to get there.
Mrs.Anderson was my teacher back when I was in elementary school and she introduced me to so many elements of the musical world, ukulele, recorder, bongos, singing and so much more. Her teaching g had an impact on me that followed me throughout the remainder of my life and I will never forget all the amazing experiences we had thanks to her growing up!

Bonnie Anderson always put together the absolute BEST elementary school Marimba band. When our daughter was part of that band, those performances were some of the best memories from those years. Bonnie is such a blessings to our family, both of my children have been impacted by her, she taught our son patience with himself through music and that it is okay to make mistakes (the world nor you will fall apart but we have to keep going). She has also helped our daughter discover her love of music while encouraging her to face new challenges out of the ordinary to reach a new level.
