Patti Nishimoto was nominated by multiple students. 

“Mrs. Nishimoto is monumental in making school enjoyable for every student," said one of her students. "She is constantly working with students to come up with fun, fresh, and exciting activities. She was my advisor for student council conventions, and I have worked with her for school activities, as well. Mrs. Nishimoto is truly one call away for everyone, even outside of school hours. She always stays late after school to attend school activity meetings, provide guidance for student leaders, and work out logistics for activities. Her classroom is open to all students, and she treats every student with great love and care. You can tell that she's truly excited to come to school and is happy when students are happy. She is a positive figure for every student and teacher."

“Mrs. Nishimoto is most likely the sweetest person to ever exist on this Earth.  There has never been a day where I haven't felt her love," said another student. "Her ability to be caring towards every single student amazes me.  She puts whatever she is doing aside and focuses on you when you need her the most.  She makes this school an amazing and fun place.  Her desire to put the students before her is what makes her special.  I have never in my life felt a relationship/bond this close to a teacher. Mrs. Nishimoto takes pride in each and every activity at our school.  She always goes above and beyond.  I have never been hesitant to talk about an issue in my life with her.  I really hope that everyone has someone like this person in their lives. She is amazing.”

“Patti Nishimoto, Aunty Patti, Mrs. Nishimoto has always been a positive influence to not just the students she teaches, but all of the students of Waiakea High School," said another student. "Aunty Patti has always motivated me to do my best and pushed me to achieve goals that I didn't even know I had. As a student activities coordinator, Aunty Patti has always shown a passion for helping out with student life and keeping students motivated to do well in school. Aunty Patti has only been a coordinator for three years, but she has shown amazing skills and such a high passion for planning events and being a leader for her students. She constantly motivates her students to do their best and try new things.”
