Chanel Aguilera was nominated by her colleague, Dawn Lineberry.

"Ms. Aguilera came to our school during the pandemic from a high school setting," explains Lineberry. "She thinks of the whole child, not just their academic level. She is instrumental in making sure students are fed outside of school, have clean clothes, and have any other needs met."

Within the classroom walls, Ms. Aguilera has set high expectations that not only apply while students are in her class, but throughout life. That's because she builds confidence within her students. When it comes to academics, she makes her lessons come alive by coming up with projects that make the students want to learn and become highly engaged!

In her free time, she is found supporting her students in their extracurricular activities. While she has been a bright spot for the students, she can also be found pouring her support into her colleagues. It's because of her excitement about her classroom setup that many of her colleagues have started making "walls that teach" in their classrooms, as well, which provides a consistency across the school.
