LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

April Savage was nominated by one of her students.

"Ms. Savage is a LifeChanger for my fellow students and I," explains her student. "Last semester, I was in her English 2 class. Day in and day out, I observed her effort to change kids’ lives. Ms. Savage was always prepared for class and had a learning plan for the day. When modifications were necessary to her plan, she had no problem adjusting her plan for the day. Ms. Savage is sweet, kind, full of energy, and patient with the students. She was reasonable with the timeframes for which she wanted assignments completed. Ms. Savage created a classroom that showed me English is interesting and fun. She made me want to work harder in her class. Ms. Savage made me want to pursue education as a career choice. She showed me teaching kids has a large impact on their lives."

Ms. Savage is the leader of the school’s YoungLife program, which she started and spearheaded this semester. She has been instrumental in growing the program from five to 20 kids during this short amount of time.

Ms. Savage has been voted the school's Teacher of the Year more than once. All students have a positive opinion of Ms. Savage, and many seek to take her classes.

"Ms. Savage has inspired me to be a leader and stay true to myself. I think she would be an awesome LifeChanger," said the student.
