LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Dede Moore was nominated by her colleague, Cindy Shannon.

"I have known Dede Moore for over 20 years," explains Shannon. "We were teachers next door to one another for 10 years. In all these years, I have always known Dede to hold to high ethical values. She has always followed through on her word to students and friends. If she says she is going to do something, she will do it. Her ethics and morality are constant in her personal and professional lives. She holds to the highest standards." 

When Ms. Moore greets students and others, she is always kind. She has worked hard to make her classroom and home welcoming with warm colors and uplifting wall art. She engages in deep conversation with others, and she'll ask with true empathy about your day. As a teacher and DECA Advisor for over 20 years, she has built a growing program, with students achieving the highest international awards each year. She is the Business and Department Chair at her school, and she has also held district-level positions at the largest school district in Missouri.

Ms. Moore is known as "Mama Moore" at Parkview High School, and she's the catalyst for community while enforcing cultural norms at Parkview. She regularly attends the plays and athletic functions, even though she lives 45 minutes away. Ms. Moore is a LifeChanger who sees teaching as her calling. Her students regularly meet with her after graduation for her advice and support.
