Heather Henning was nominated by Briana Demmings, a parent of a student.

"Heather Henning is my LifeChanger nominee because that's truly who she is," explains Demmings. "I've known Ms. Heather for over 10 years, as she was my former cheer coach. She has always given chances and opportunities to the youth and adults in the community."

"Heather changed my life so much as a teenager, as I was a little rebellious. Despite the things she heard about me or anyone else, however, she did not turn her back," said Demmings. "She had taken a chance on me and allowed me to return to the sport that I was passionate about, which was cheerleading. When she did that, little did she know that it was the thing I felt really changed my life and made me do a complete 360. I went from a "D" average student to getting a 3.0 GPA. She always made sure she could help academically if she could, and she was very resourceful in getting people help if she couldn't."

"From there, I was getting invited to the superintendent's events for academic, and I had no more suspensions due to fighting. I was a whole new person due to Ms. Heather," said Demmings. "After graduating high school, she brought me on board as her colleague, and I became an assistant cheer coach. She helped groom me into the great coach that I am now. She has shown me how to handle certain situations that I will always treasure."

"My children are also enrolled in her academy, and that's literally the best decision I ever made as a parent. My daughter, who attends DECA Prep, is excelling so much. A large part of that is because of Ms. Heather and her staff. I love how she helps prepare our babies for their school journey into becoming young scholars, and I'm so grateful for everything that Ms. Heather does. She's really my guardian angel," said Demmings.

Having her as a coach helped me push myself on days that I wanted to give up most! Outside of sports she has supported me and helped me grow into the young woman I am now!

I was very fortunate to have someone like Heather in my life. Heather saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself. Its been nearly 12 years since she took me in. We met in the hallway of my elementary school my 5th grade year. Where she was teaching Kindergarten. Ms. Heather has become my mentor, my coach, and my mental guidance. She’s helped me through high school, got me to explore college. She even drove 4 hours to help me find the perfect school for me. Ms. Heather became my God Mother and does not take that role lightly. Heather has given me so many life lessons that has truly changed my life. I have witnessed her changing so many others life as well. Heather is A super hero, an excellent human being, an outstanding teacher, and A wonderful mother. Loved & respected by many!

Coach Henning has changed my life by telling her testimony and sharing her battles with me and showing me that you never know what someone is going through or what they’ve over came and her coming in my life really made me open up my eyes and always think about my situation from a different point of view.
