Lauren Roberts was nominated by her colleague, Mary Berry.
"It is an honor and a great privilege to be able to share with you how much our school nurse means to our school. Lauren Roberts is, unequivocally, the best. I was so excited to see this year’s LifeChanger of the Year awards spotlighting the trained nurses in our schools," explains Berry.
Without a doubt, in the past 18 months, all our medical professionals are heroes. Ms. Roberts is not just a health care professional; She is a school nurse. She is regulated by the state, district, and school. Coughman Elementary School is one of the largest elementary schools in one of the largest school districts in the state. Nurse Roberts arrives before the buses are waiting in the bus loop, and she leaves when the last child is safely off campus. She treats cuts, bruises, hurt tummies, headaches, nosebleeds, lost teeth, sore throats, vomiting, and sprains. She also monitors juvenile diabetes, seizures, and students with extreme GI issues, all while running around campus to assess and evaluate students with COVID symptoms.
This year’s school setting is truly like playing “whack-a -mole,” but Ms. Roberts handles it with professionalism and grace all the time. She has a quick wit and laugh that sets those around her at ease. She is also a wife and a mother to two children, and somehow, she successfully juggles her personal and professional lives. Day after day, she reports to work with a smile on her face, making all those around her feel at ease and secure in her very capable hands.
"At the beginning of the year, we apologetically turned in droves of medical forms to Nurse Roberts. Somehow, the paperwork was all collected and processed. Medicines, EpiPens, diabetic medication, conferences with parents and health care providers – the normal routine school year protocol never missed a beat," said Berry. "She is the very best. She is genuine, caring, professional, thorough, dedicated, and wonderful. We are so very happy she is ours!"
Nurse Roberts is amazing. Whether it’s responding to my daughter eating something she’s allergic to or my son randomly getting a paint chip fully embedded under his fingernail, Nurse Roberts is “on it” with love, capability and even humor. Thank you!

Nurse Roberts is more than a nurse at our school. She puts so much care and compassion into her job. Even when she's doing 10 things at once she does them with grace and a smile. No matter how minor the ailment, she makes each child feel cared for and special. Her positive attitude and caring smile is a cure for all. We love our Nurse Roberts!
Nurse Roberts is always so positive and kind. She not only helps the kids but she builds relationships with them and participates in school spirit days.
What can I say that hasn't been said, already? I have to just agree with what everyone else has said. My family and I feel blessed that Nurse Roberts is a part of our family here at Caughman Rd Elem. She listens, remembers and responds with efficient, effective answers. She loves the children and what she's been ordained to do! I am overwhelmed with gratitude that Ms. Berry saw this opportunity for Nurse Roberts to be recognized for all she does for our school community!
Nurse Roberts is phenomenal. Not only is she there to support the kids with their health issues but also the teachers and staff. She's always positive with the students and we are very grateful to have someone like her on our campus.
No one deserves this award more than Lauren Roberts. She is absolutely the best school nurse in the world. She is calm, patient, kind, funny, professional, and competent. She comes when called, focuses on the need, follows up, contacts parents, communicates with staff, completes all paperwork, participates in school events, and she does all this with a smile. Her relationship with children is impressive-she is able to connect with all kids. She is loved and respected at Caughman Road Elementary School, and we would not have survived the past 2 years without her.

Nurse Roberts has been a SUPERHERO this school year meeting all of our school's health needs from insulin checks and bumped noggins to band-aids and ice-packs. Alone. On a campus of almost 700 kids. During a freakin' PANDEMIC! If that's not a Life Changer, I couldn't tell you what is!
Nurse Roberts - a true ROCKSTAR and hero. She simply is the BEST. She is what the Lord calls a “cheerful giver.” She gives her all to faculty, staff, students, and families within our community. This has been a difficult year, but Nurse Roberts hasn’t complained once about the additional duties added to her plate. When I grow up - I want to be as much of a cheerful giver as Nurse Roberts!

I stand in awe everyday watching her walk, scurry, or at times sprint down the halls in route to ensure the students, teachers and staff are protected and safe at Caughman Road Elementary. Nurse Roberts has an incredibly demanding job each and every day and could you believe she’s often found and heard in the hallways with this laugh that is highly contagious?! She’s the first to ensure the kids, the teachers and the staff are laughing (even in tough situations), feel safe, feel included, and feel loved. Nurse Roberts is certainly a LifeChanger, but not just within the walls of Caughman Road Elementary but within the Lower Richland community! You R O C K Nurse Roberts!!!!

I love Nurse Roberts. When my head,stomach, was hurting she had gave me water and she had put me on the bed and put water on a paper towel and put it on my head and sent me back to class. and after that it had stop hurting. I LOVE MS.ROBERTS

Nurse Roberts is there for everyone at Caughman Road! There is never a time where she will not try to help and make sure every child is taken care of. She is the kind of person who when you meet them, you already know they are special! She is genuine, kind, and hardworking. While working during a pandemic, especially as a nurse, is challenging in so many ways, she always has a smile on and keeps a positive attitude! The students and staff at Caughman Road Elementary are extremely blessed to have her!

Nurse Roberts,,I can write a paragraph about her,,this is my son first year of school and unfortunately he has type one diabetes,,I was very nervous at first but when but when I began to talk to nurse Roberts I rest assured that things will be A ok!! We talk before,during and even after school every single day since school started about our plan with my son,,she monitor and take care of not only my son but every kid like it’s her own..!! She’s a very loving and caring nurse,,and my son loves her to the moon and back,,they are always talking and laughing about something each day!! He even called her Honey!! Lol,,nurse Roberts deserves this award and I hope that she’s blessed to receive it! I can keep going but I might just comeback and do another post because it’s much more o could say about her!!??

Lauren has always been a great person. I have known her since she married Greg. I watched as she juggled nursing school and raising two kids. She did them both effortlessly. Being a retired educator, I am extremely proud that she chose this path as a school nurse. Striving for excellence is second nature to Lauren. This is so very accurate. She has to walk upwards of 20,000 steps a day to keep our students safe, AND she does it all with a smile on her face, which you can see even through the mask! I have seen many school nurses come and go at Caughman. Lauren GENUINELY cares, and it shows! Seeing her even in passing is a bright spot in my day!
I have known Lauren Roberts since she was a young girl. Not only is she an amazing nurse, she is a wonderful person! I am so thankful she is at Caughman Road looking after my two great grandsons. She loves and cares for all children so much.
