She is present in the halls, cafeteria, and classrooms on a daily basis. She is an educator who is personable, friendly, and supportive. Mrs. Burch knows her students by name, and her open-door policy extends from teachers to students and parents. She makes herself accessible to deal with school infractions, and she takes time to recognize students and teachers for their achievements.

"Even if the staff or students do not feel safe anywhere else, Burch has transformed Central Elementary into a safe haven for all," the nominator said. "She embodies excellence and professionalism, setting an example for everyone who comes into contact with her. For someone who has been in education for over 20 years, she certainly has not lost her steam and is a true motivator to students, parents and teachers."
