Samantha Congdon was nominated by her friend, Rhonda Bodily.
Ms. Congdon has an easy confidence about her that she is able to pass on to her students and co-workers. When kids who aren't feeling well (phyisically or mentally) come to her office, she has positive words and a listening ear. She doesn't let them dwell too long on their illness or sadness. Instead, she quickly and efficiently handles everything from fevers to feeding tubes, and she makes the students feel valued and safe. She loves the students, and she enjoys her role as a school nurse and excels at it.
When dealing with her coworkers, she has a fun sense of humor and is willing to pitch in and help out with anything. When her opinion as a consultant is needed, she is able to quickly diagnose and come up with a viable health plan for each situation. Any information that is important for teachers/aids to know, she will impart in a simple way that can be understood and followed easily, but other sensitive information is kept private, as it should be.
"I worked with her at the elementary school level, and I was subbing in the Resource Room," said Bodily. "I had to know certain things about the students, one of whom had a feeding tube and other medical issues. Sam helped me feel comfortable doing what I needed to do to make him comfortable and keep him from feeling "different" than the other kids. She had such a fun relationship with him. What especially caught me eye was her demeanor around these kids who have so many heavy problems already. She respected them and showed her affection for them while treating their issues with concern and kindness."
Sam helps answer questions for other health techs and nurses that aren't at her school. She is always cheerful and a great resource. Great job Sam!
Sam is truly amazing! Dedicated, professional, and her nursing expertise is outstanding! Sawtooth Middle School is lucky to have her watching over the students, staff and school community!
Sam is amazing! She ALWAYS goes above and beyond in everything she does for the school, students and staff. She steps in to help without even asking. Her unconditional love and care for people shows in everything she does. She is an all around wonderful person.
Samantha has always gone out of her way to be kind to me. She bought me a traffic cone costume to wear at the crosswalk the week before Halloween. I was hurt while doing my job, and she helped me navigate the world of workman's comp, and made sure I sought care. It's not just me that she takes care such good care of, she provides expert care for students as well. And it's no wonder that so many of our students and staff love her. She is the bubbly, and full of Sothern charm, with all the fire you would expect from a Texan. You cant know Nurse Same and not feel better about life. I think it's safe to say that Nurse Sam might just be the best School Nurse that ever existed.
Sam is the best nurse ever!!!!! She is the most supportive to both students and staff. The last 2 years have been extremely difficult with all the COVID stuff she has had to deal with. She has done it all with a great attitude and a smile on her face. I have personally heard her encourage students, parents and staff. Going above and beyond has been a daily thing for Sam. She truly cares about everyone who walks into her office and this shows in how everyone feels about her!!
Sam is the perfect blend of professional and fun at the same time, her sense of humor is medicine for staff and students. I am grateful to work with such an amazing nurse and wonderful human. Mahalo Sam!

Sam is the best nurse I have had a pleasure to work with in 36 years in education. As the Athletic Director here at Sawtooth Middle, I deal with many athlete injuries and parents of these athletes. Sam is always available to talk with me, the students and their parents. She explains things to the all parties in a honest and straight forward manner. In the last year and half, with the current medical situation in the country, Sam has worked around the clock to keep everyone informed of all the information that was needed to keep everyone safe. She has been a life changer for everyone in the building. We are truly blessed to have her. Thank you, Nurse Cogdon.

Sam Congdon is amazing . . . as a human and as a school nurse!! She has a very easy, genuine way of helping each person she comes in contact with to feel valued and that they belong at our school. She knows that healthy mental health contributes to the whole person. Sam's health clinic has tools to address all health concerns including anxiety, hunger, and clothing mishaps alongside with any health concern. The most valuable tool she has and uses, each day, is her unconditional positive regard. Students feel connected and safe when they visit Nurse Sam. She truly enjoys helping others and brightening lives. Sam understands that a child spending time out of the classroom is missing instruction and isn't learning. At the same time, she also knows that children have obstacles they face each day that impact their learning unless addressed. Sam works alongside school counselors, administrators, teachers, and parents to care for our young ones while empowering them to learn to care for themselves. She is professional; those she works with trust her medical understanding and application. Sam Congdon is needed, trusted, valued, and adored at Sawtooth Middle School. Thank you, Sam.
Nurse Sam literally saved my heart. She is warm, knowledgeable, and someone who is easy to get to know. Oh, and she does have a serious side. "She is very dedicted.

Sam is the joy and fun of our school. She gives so much compassion and understanding to every kid who walks into the nurse's office. Of course she listens about their physical issues, but she also listens to their emotional and social problems. They open up to her, because they know they will be met with kindness. Sam will find a way to help them and empower them.
Sam is absolutely amazing, she keep us all together and is one of the most giving people I know. I appreciate all you do for kids :)
Sam is truly a lifesaver. When I thought I may be sick with Covid, she was so helpful to me in knowing what I needed to do to make sure my students were protected. I am also a new staff member and at the time I wasn't insured yet. Sam made all of the connections for me with our school district so I could be tested, for free, the next day. Even though I know she is incredibly busy, she never hesitated to make sure I was taken care of and healthy. We are so lucky to have Nurse Sam at Sawtooth Middle school!
I thoroughly enjoy working with Nurse Sam and I agree she's the best around!! She always has a positive attitude (which is contagious), is willing to help out (even with non-nursing things), and makes us all laugh... deep belly laugh!! Her love, care, and support for students, parents, and staff is VERY evident!! Nurse Sam goes far beyond her responsibilities as a nurse. She makes a difference in someone's life every single day, and I think it's safe to say we ALL love her!! I cannot think of anyone else who deserves this prestigious award as much as Nurse Sam does!! I am lucky to not only call her my co-worker, but also my friend. THANK YOU NURSE SAM!!
