Anne Hanigan was nominated by Danna White, the parent of a student.

Ms. Hanigan is truly an inspiration. She is kind, compassionate, thorough, and calm in the midst of chaos. As a nurse for such a large middle school, she has been under an immense amount of pressure this school year, but you'd never know it when interacting with her about a care plan for an individual student.

"My daughter was diagnosed with a very rare medical condition just as she was getting ready to start her first year as a sixth grader at Eagle Middle School," said White. "I was hesitant to send her to school, since her condition would require immediate life-or-death care if something were to go wrong. She also needed a revised list of approved activities for PE, etc. She's a kid who is a little too comfortable going to the nurse's office for various ailments, including those that really don't require a nurse's care. Anne has been incredibly supportive during this uncertain time. She has communicated frequently as needed, and I trust her completely when it comes to the care of my child. We've had COVID-19 scares, medical condition scares, special school resource needs, etc. Anne has never made us feel like a burden. It's as if my child is the only child she has to manage (this is clearly not the case, as Anne provides amazing care to all her students). She has not only successfully navigated the COVID-19 crisis, but she has continued to provide above and beyond care for everyday cases (and special cases, like my daughter) on top of it. Anne more than deserves the recognition that comes along with this award!"
