Gerald Jacobs was nominated by one of his colleagues.
"Mr. Jacobs has truly touched and changed the lives of so many students in our district," explains his colleague. "He has the ability to reach a student on a whole other level. He has that special touch that is needed to work with our students on a daily basis."
Mr. Jacobs has not only touched the lives of many students, but many teachers. He works alongside teachers to help in any way that he can. He has helped teachers open their minds and think outside of the box when working through different behavior situations.
"We have so many parents in our community that will also attest to the true light that Mr. Jacobs has shown in our district. We are thankful for all that he has done in our community for our teachers, students, and parents," said his colleague.
Mr. Jacobs definitely deserves this award and so much more. He has a way with the children of East Central, no matter what that child's situation is at home or what personal challenges that child is trying to overcome he can always find a way to break through the noise in that child's mind and reach him/her. He is an asset at our school, and a lot of the kids here would be in terrible shape and not see any growth or success academically if not for his support.
Seeing Mr. Jacobs every afternoon is the highlight of my day. He has a dry wit about him that is unmatched. His presence is noticed when he walks the halls to check on his students. There's an air about him that is stern yet soothing. Structured but comical. Our students adore him. They seek him out. They admire him. He has a way of making you feel like it's all gonna be ok. He brings a new definition to the title Positive Behavior Specialist. I have never met anyone quite like him.
What can you say about a man that walks in the office holding a cute puppy with a big bow. A kid worked hard on their behavior for that reward. He followed through with that promise and all that it required to do so. He is a true blessing. Not just for students, but faculty.
Mr Jacobs has the patience of a saint and a great ability to think outside of the box to reach his students. We love Mr Jacobs!
I have never encountered a positive behavior specialist like Mr. Jacobs. I am in awe of his connection with students and his superpower to motivate and encourage the best from each one. A look, a thumbs up, going on a walk with a child to help the child deescalate… The children respond to him beautifully, and he does it all with love and grace.
My daughter thinks the world of him! No one can “chase” her down quit like Mr. Jacobs can lol!
I do not personally know Mr. Jacobs but I have heard my little sister talk about him! He even went out and got her a birthday card and gave it to her at school!! She was so happy about it!
Mr. Jacobs is, by far, one of the greatest men I’ve ever met. He is so wise, encouraging and consistent with the students and staff alike. I cannot imagine anyone who is more deserving of this incredible honor that him.
Mr. Jacobs reaches the unreachable! We are blessed to have him in Jackson County School District!
Mr. Jacobs deserves all the recognition we can give him. Most days he is our saving grace. We all appreciate his work and dedication to his students.
Mr. Jacobs is one of the most amazing Behavioral Specialists I have ever worked with. He has a way of connecting with the most troubled students. He earns their respect and teaches them to value themselves, their schooling, and others. His heart definitely shines through in all he does!

Mr. Jacobs is one of the biggest blessings to ever walk the halls at East Central schools. He always has a smile on his face and is truly a beacon of light to those around him. He goes above and beyond for his students. Mr. Jacobs is changing the lives of everyone around him for the better. He deserves the LifeChanger of the Year award and so much more!

Mr. Jacobs has opened up a whole new world for our students, teachers/staff, and parents. There is always a smile and a light at the end of the tunnel no matter how complex an issue may seem. He is a true gift.
This man is one of a kind and works miracles with our kids. He has a true servants heart and his love for these kids shows on each of their faces. There is no one more deserving this man who has poured his time and own money into the future of these kids.
Mr. Jacob’s works with several of my students. He is the miracle worker around our campus. He is compassionate, loving, stern, and so very giving. He will do anything at the drop of a hat for our students. Whether that is to go buy them clothes, the promise of a reward, or to give a much needed hug. He is our superhero, because he does it all.
He is awesome . He has help d so many young people . I can’t name them all but as a grandparent of two and aunt of 4 , this is most caring person in this field ever ! Thank you
I call him Mr. Special Touch. He can just look at a student acting up and the student just stops. A student can hear his voice and not even see him and stop doing what they are doing because they Mr. Jacob doesn't play and will not be happy with them. He is always calm, cool and collected. He is Mr. Special Touch and I thank the good Lord above for allowing me to know him. For to know him is to Love him!
