LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Gabrielle Williams was nominated by her superintendent, Maria Ambriz.

Ambriz has known Ms. Williams for over 13 years. In that time, Ms. Williams has proven to be strong and relentless when facing challenges. In 2004, Ms. Williams was hired as an Assistant Principal for William Moreno Jr. High School in Calexico USD.  As site administrative colleagues, Ambriz and Ms. Williams interacted quite often at both safety and curricular meetings, both in and out of the district. Since 2011, they have had the opportunity to continue working together in Calexico USD as administrative colleagues. Ambriz has observed Ms. Williams while she served site principal roles, both at William Moreno Jr. High School and currently at Calexico High School.

"It is my opinion that Ms. Williams's no-nonsense attitude, work ethic, and dedication to ongoing improvement are what makes her a LifeChanger," Ambriz said. "She is an effective communicator and has strong listening skills. She is highly organized and works effectively with students of all ages. Ms. Williams is driven to succeed. Simply stated: failure is not an option for her. She is a team player who believes in supporting the benefit and greater good of all. She seeks to be a problem-solver and is definitely a strong advocate for all students, especially those with untapped potential."
