LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Kelly Borgardt was nominated by her colleague, Christine Martin.

Dealing with student injuries and illnesses requires empathy and a caring nature. Ms. Borgardt embodies both of those characteristics.  She is always compassionate to students, staff and parents; taking the time to listen and explain in detail when answering all questions. From mending a playground "boo boo," to caring for students who have diabetes and seizures, Ms. Borgardt goes above and beyond every day.  

"During COVID, she has been our contact tracer, IDPH reporter, detailed record-keeper, and sounding board for best practices for keeping our students and staff healthy and safe.  She has spent countless hours after school and on weekends calling parents about quarantine procedures and close contact information, along with hosting many webinars about new and changing COVID protocol procedures.  She is truly a lifelong learner and advocate for all of us here at Union Ridge School," said Martin.  

Among her duties a nurse, Ms. Borgardt finds time in her busy days to coordinate flu shots for staff, conduct CPR and bloodborne pathogen training for staff, arrange for Miles of Smiles to provide dentistry care to students, hold IEP meetings, complete paperwork, and so much more.

"Nurse Kelly is one of the most hardworking, professional people I know, and I am happy to nominate her for LifeChanger of the Year," said Martin.
