Music that Describes Jaime

Jaime Mooar was nominated by one of her colleagues.

"Jaime made a difference on day one," explains her colleague. "In the fall of 2020, our district was preparing for the start of a new school year facing many challenges, especially in regards to COVID-19. During the summer prior to the start of the school year, we learned that our local hospital could no longer afford to provide a school nurse in our district. Our board of education recommended that our superintendent begin the process of hiring a nurse for Charlevoix Elementary School.  After interviews, the central office recommended hiring Jaime Mooar, and the board of education approved!"

Ms. Mooar was equipped to hit the ground running with her wealth of knowledge and experience!  She cares for the day-to-day needs of the children and has been instrumental in supporting her school's COVID-19 response.  This year, she tests students and staff daily for COVID-19 and completes school-based contact tracing. Ms. Mooar is caring, intelligent, and able to work with everyone who needs her support.  She spends hours after her day making phone calls for contact tracing, and she's willing to meet parents and staff for testing before and after school.  She has also been known to frequently come in on weekends to support families and staff members.

Ms. Mooar has done a great job partnering with the health department and administrative team, and she has penned a number of Nurse's Newsletters for families and staff members.

"We are thankful that Jaime is our elementary school nurse, and we appreciate the positive impact she has made at Charlevoix Elementary School and in our district," said the colleague.

This nomination comes as no surprise to me. Jaime is an outstanding nurse and a great addition to our staff. She is professional, organized, caring, funny and approachable. Jaime works incredibly hard and I don't know how she has managed to navigate this pandemic with a smile on her face. We are so fortunate to have her on our team and I am so proud to consider her both friend and coworker.

Jaime is incredible. She has worked tirelessly for the last two years in our school system, especially through this pandemic. She spends countless hours with Covid testing, contact tracing, return to school plans, and the list goes on and on. We are blessed to have her as part of our Charlevoix Elementary School team.

There is no one more deserving of this honor. In addition to all the tasks listed above, she also works tirelessly to keep our medically high needs students safe and well cared for. She deserves a cape!!!!!

Jaime Mooar is more than my Daughter (In-Law) and mother to my fabulous grandsons-she is a friend. Rarely do you find someone who can evoke a smile and the feeling of loving support during turbulent times. She has a way of putting people at ease while giving needed directions. I'm so proud of her.she feels very strongly about the children she cares for and their parents.

Jaime Mooar is one of the most dedicated and caring nurses I have ever known. She had always cared deeply for her patients, but since becoming a school nurse they are no longer just her patients, they are "her kids." She takes excellent care of them while at school, but also worries about and checks in on them on her own time as well. In any given day, Jaime will bandage wounds, help a child in diabetic crisis, triage and send kids to a higher level of care, make sure immunization records are up to date, ice owies, and help little ones with tummy aches, headaches, and homesickness. And if all of this weren't enough, she has taken all of this on during a pandemic. Jaime did not bat an eyelash to jumping right in and helping to develop a plan for the safe return to inperson learning for the 2020-2021 school year. She set up COVID protocols, testing, and contact tracing and has spent tireless hours instituting them. Jaime has come in early, worked through her lunches, stayed late, and come in and taken calls on weekends to ensure the work is complete and everyone in her school is as safe as possible. Jaime is a hero without a cape and more than deserving of the title LifeChanger of the Year.

Jaime is truly one of the most deeply empathetic, intuitive, and compassionate people I know. But, on top of this, she is exceedingly intelligent, dedicated, and tenacious. These are qualities that the profession of healthcare, and indeed the world, need now, perhaps more than ever. Jaime gives tirelessly of herself to ensure that her students and school community receive the best possible care and up-to-date public health information. I cannot think of a better candidate for this award.

If anyone deserves to have this award it is Jaime, On a deep level she is a very caring individual and always focuses on the particular needs of each person. Each person who is served by Jaime comes away feeling as if they are being valued for who they are. They feel as if their needs come first. I worked for Sault Ste. Mare Tribe of Chippewa Indians as a Health Educator for many years and personally know what qualities a person needs to have to be able to reach and connect to people who are experiencing their own medical problems or even crisis. Well, Jaime has proven over and over again that she is an individual who has those qualities. And it comes naturally to her - I don't believe you can learn how to be empathetic, compassionate and truly caring. Again, please seriously consider Jaime for the LifeChanger award.

Jaime, This is a well deserved honor. I knew you were a dedicated nurse when we worked together, so it does not surprise me that others noticed as well. The kids are so lucky you are there for them. Charlevoix is lucky to have you advocating in the community. Miss you!

I am the proud mother of two daughters who are nurses, and Jaime is one of them. Just from my conversations with Jaime I learn about the home visits during snowstorms to help students. I know what a terrific sense of humor she has as well as an impressive work ethic. She is compassionate and giving. I may be a little prejudiced but I am very proud of her as a mother, wife and a superb nurse.

Yay Jaime! What a relief it has been to have Jaime on board as our school nurse. Jaime was hired just in time to help our school navigate these trying times of Covid. Thank you for being compassionate yet professional with students from preschool through sixth grade. Jaime is efficient and thorough, willing to go the extra mile before and after school hours as needed. Students are comforted by her gentle words and explanations of any treatments about to take place, whether a splinter removal or covid test. Jaime has a fun sense of humor and a caring nature. She has been such a great addition to the staff of our school!

I worked with Jaime as a brand new nurse fresh out of college. Although she was not my preceptor, she was a role model and someone I could rely on! Her compassion for caring for her patients as well as supporting her coworkers is commendable! She is a wonderful nurse that has not only impacted my life, but the lives of many others!

Jaime has been an outstanding member of this community for years. Naturally I was extremely pleased to hear that Jaime had been hired as our elementary school nurse. Few people in life seem to possess such impossible altruism. This is a hard working class mother of two who would do absolutely anything for her fellow man.

I’ve known Jaime for years in a professional capacity and believe there couldn’t be a better choice. Beyond her intelligence and skill in her profession, she has an old fashioned work ethic and a drive to help her patients, co-workers, family and friends. She does it all with an upbeat attitude and a great sense of humor. Bravo Jaime and congrats on the nomination.

My wife works with Jaime Mooar and has mentioned time and time again on the demands Nurse Mooar has had to face during this very trying time of Covid. She takes it very seriously but keeps her sense of humor inspite the demands that this virus has thrown at her. She follows the advice that the health department has implemented even though it has not been well received by many families. I am glad to see she has been honored with this nomination and would be very deserving of also taking home the higher reward of winning. Thank you.
