Riley Peterson was nominated by one of her colleagues.
"Riley is a very thoughtful person who uses a caring approach to working with her students, staff, and families," said the colleague. "She has led our efforts to support our school with COVID-19 safety since the pandemic began in March 2020."
Ms. Peterson goes above and beyond to support students taking her health occupations CTE classes, and she puts in many hours before school, after school, evenings, and weekends. She frequently spends time supporting testing, meeting families at school, calling close contacts, and communicating with the health department and the administrative team.
Ms. Peterson is not only an effective teacher, but a supportive school nurse! Her calm demeanor, knowledge, compassion, and great communication skills help her to be successful in both roles within the district. She works well with the elementary school nurse and has built a strong working relationship with her to support students in both buildings.
