Music that Describes Abigail
Abigail Nacisse was nominated by her principal, Lisa Hamblen.
Two years ago, Ms. Nacisse accepted the challenge of transitioning from the medical field to a school setting. She has been nothing short of phenomenal since she arrived at James B. Havard Elementary. She walked into the clinic and made it her own. Ms. Nacisse is a team player, and she manages all of her responsibilities with grace and skill. She is efficient and tactful. Her energy and smile are contagious.
"Little did we know that COVID-19 would hit in the spring of her first year as a school nurse, but Abigail handled the situation like a pro. During the pandemic, she was always available to the school community. When we returned to learning face-to-face, she helped create a system for clinic referrals and student care that allowed us to provide the best services possible and decrease the possibility of exposure," said Hamblen.
Ms. Nacisse has taken on huge responsibilities during this public health crisis. She has acted as a public health educator. She has tirelessly communicated information regarding masking, vaccinations, and general health guidance. At times, she has been a sounding board for the school community, who were truly fearful of any possible exposure to coronavirus.
"No matter what the concern or how it was presented, she has calmly addressed our fears and given pertinent information to help our community stay safe and healthy. If she was stressed, it never showed," said Hamblen.
Whether she is serving the students, their families, the school community, or her own family, Ms. Nacisse consistently puts the needs of others above her own. Everything she does is out of a seemingly endless intrinsic motivation to help and serve others. Her humility sets an example of what public service truly means. She would never think of herself as a role model or take any credit for her actions.
"At Havard Elementary, her presence, positivity, and leadership have been life-changing, and I am honored to nominate her for this award," said Hamblen.

Our nurse Mrs. Nacisse is an awesome human being. She treats our students will dignity, respect, and kindness. All referrals are important to her, whether is something serious or just a little boo-boo. She is always with a smile and in a good mood.
She is our school nurse and she's amazing! She could have possibly saved my life! I went to her because I was feeling severe pain. She checked my blood pressure. After she noticed my blood pressure was unusually high, she encouraged me to go to an urgent care. Thanks to her advice and concern, I went to an emergency room and discovered I had appendicitis and was already septic! Ever since, she always checks on me and asks if I'm feeling okay. She really cares about the wellbeing of the staff and students. Thank you for all you do Mrs. Nacisse!
