Music that Describes Annie

Annie Aguirre was nominated by multiple parents of her students.

"I’d like to nominate my son's first grade teacher. He’s the only student in his class to opt out of in-person learning. He’s seven years old and feeding tube-dependent. Annie has gone above and beyond to include him in the classroom. Each week, she sends us materials and a detailed schedule. He logs onto Zoom for 2-4 classes each day. She takes the time to make sure the camera is working and that he’s truly included in the class work. We are so grateful! I’m in touch with many other medically complex kids who have opted to stay home or do home hospital school. Annie goes above and beyond to make sure Bennett is getting a good education, and that he feels like a part of the class." -Beth Ellen Stanley

"When my son came to Annie's class he was taking a bit longer to catch on to reading than his classmates. Annie took the time to help him, teaching some fun and practical tools to become a skilled and confident reader. It was never a stressful experience for my son. Learning in Annie's class always felt like an organic part of his natural development. He's found it fun and my husband and I have felt like true partners in his learning. We have the privilege to have our second son in her class and he also finds the class engaging and meaningful. What I love about Annie's teaching style is the kids have a clear understanding of what the expectations are and she gives them room to rise to the occasion and make adjustments where necessary. It's amazing to watch our kids progress through this classroom because they come out so confident and articulate."  -Elena Valle

"We are a new family to Synergy School, and Annie has already taken significant time getting to know our son.  She is helping him to learn the culture and values of the school, and has shown great patience and understanding.  Annie communicates openly with us as parents, but most importantly with our son.  In the short time we have been at Synergy School she has welcomed our family and consistently told our son she is happy he is a student.  It is clear to us she is dedicated to each student's well-being from an academic and emotional perspective. After all the children have been through over the past 20 months, having a loving nurturing environment every day at school is essential.  Annie is an integral part of ensuring that space." -Joslyn Baxter

Annie is an extraordinary teacher. It’s clear she brings her best to work each day and as a result she changes the lives of her students and their families for the better. She inspires and encourages a sense of community and play that helps each student and the class grow together. Annie remains steady with this approach over time, pre-Covid, during Covid and beyond. She’s a #1 teacher.

Our son was a student of Annie’s for both 1st and 2nd grade. She is an educator that leads with her heart. She is encouraging and positive with strong dedication to her students and coworkers. When we were preparing to move out of state she came to our home to wish us well and give final hugs and farewells. It’s not easy to be a teacher but Annie makes it seem effortless and natural - her true life’s calling. It’s a joy to see her hard work and dedication recognized. We love you Annie!!!

I've been so grateful for all the hard work Annie did in the classroom to transition to Zoom learning and then keep swapping between the two, making sure that kids were getting the support they needed and developing a different kind of patience in addition to all of her teaching routine. I hope you feel appreciated as all teachers should!

Sarah showalter Posted over a year ago

I wouldn’t blame teachers for zoning out these days with all that’s being expected of them. But it’s so heartwarming to know there are teachers like you who are going above and beyond not only during Covid but for those who need extra help and support. Thank you for your efforts for those whose situations are more complicated!

We feel so lucky that Annie is our son's teacher! She's kind, caring and patient. She is so good at understanding each kid is different, and she know how to connect with them in a genuine way. We love that she's always thinking of ways to challenge our son so that he can keep growing as a learner in a very encouraging space. She treats kids as little grown ups, and makes them feel valued and respected. We are so happy to have her, and can't wait for her to be our daughter's teacher in a couple of years!

Helping to integrate a pupil into a classroom he is barred from attending because of a health issue and actively overseeing his integration, making sure he is keeping up and giving tips to his parents to make his membership in the group and his advancement is truly wonderful and humane. As a former teacher at all levels of education from elementary to high school, I know how hard this would be to accomplish and am truly impressed with the devotion of the teacher nominated by Beth Stanley.

My first grader needed some support with reading and I learned how to teach her through watching Annie interact with her reading group. Thank you!!

Annie is such an amazing teacher and does everything she can and more to support students! We are so grateful for all she does.

Gabbriella Yates Posted over a year ago

My daughter landed in Annie's class after transferring from another school and at least a year behind her peers in reading and writing. Annie was dedicated to bringing her up to speed and worked hard everyday to provide the support and structure to meet her where she was and move her forward. I will always attribute my daughter's love for reading and writing to Annie and remember her commitment to my daughter's literacy. My daughter now consider's herself a writer and she is fine one, inviting the reader deep into her world through short stories that touch us all. Thanks, Annie!!!
