Arlene Oatman was nominated by her colleague, Kori Muniz Jones.

Mrs. Oatman is truly a LifeChanger because she makes a beneficial difference in the lives of students on a daily basis. She's currently helping one of her TA/Volunteer students find a job through the District Work Ability Program. Mrs. Oatman positively contributes to the development of her school's atmosphere with her willingness to help as many people as she can. She has displayed leadership within Cypress High School, as well as the Anaheim Union High School District, in countless ways. She recently spearheaded the new textbook labeling system and is the Sporting Event Manager for all the Varsity and CIF competitions.

Mrs. Oatman has been honored with the AUHSD Service Award for over 30 years of serving in various capacities. She is currently the administrative assistant and assistant to the principal, Dr. Jodie Wales. She is known and respected for having a commitment to producing a nurturing environment by assisting teachers in whatever capacity is needed.

"I have personally witnessed her have nurturing conversations with both faculty and classified employees that were in crisis situations and reaching their wit's end with the pressures and stress of their jobs," Muniz Jones said.

Mrs. Oatman strives to achieve the highest moral and ethical standards on a daily basis. She is always making sure everyone is following school and district rules.

"Arlene does all of this on top of her regular duties as the administrative assistant and taking care of her family and approximately 30 animals," Muniz Jones said. "I consider Mrs. Oatman on par with the Energizer Bunny."
