Music that Describes Lisa
Lisa Pace was nominated by her colleague, Donna Murphy.
"Lisa Pace is a phenomenal school nurse," explains Murphy. "Lisa is our school district's COVID point person. She has given so much of her time to make sure our school district has all the information we need to keep our kids in school learning and safe. She has developed and instructed all employees on all things COVID. Lisa works year-round keeping the school district safe and healthy. She goes above and beyond because she cares so much. She is the person, we, the other school nurses, call upon with questions when dealing with all things COVID."
Ms. Pace will answer her phone at 7:00 AM when she doesn't start until 8:30 AM. She always makes herself available, no matter the time of day, even on the weekends.
Despite the stress of COVID, she still takes the time to educate her young elementary students. Ms. Pace is always talking with the asthmatics and diabetics to help them improve their health and gain independence. Her motto is: "There are always teaching moments."
"Lisa rearranges the nursing schedule so everyone can be helped to the fullest. She is one of the first to pitch in where and when needed, and there is always a need," said Murphy.
Mrs. Pace is the type of nurse you would want to be taking care of your child if they were sick or in danger. As a parent, I can not think of a higher compliment. As the Superintendent, it is critical to have individuals within your organization that will fiercely advocate and be champions for children. There are those special individuals that have the desire and expertise to go that extra mile...Mrs. Pace is one of those individuals. When I think of Mrs. Pace, the motto others before self immediately comes to mind. She is a consummate professional and ALWAYS puts the kids first. What else can you ask for from a school nurse!!
Lisa's commitment to keeping the students and staff of PBSD safe and healthy is extraordinary. She battles the unknowns of COVID while performing the endless duties of a school nurse. We are so grateful to her for all of her guidance and expertise!

Lisa does an outstanding job of putting all of the pieces together when we have a COVID mystery. I always stay late after school, but when I walk out the door, she is STILL here doing every thing she can to STOP THE SPREAD! She is an amazing nurse and maintains her composure under the most stressful situations.
Lisa is the consummate professional, and she always gives 110% in all that she does. Our district would be lost without her guidance & expertise in all things nursing & Covid related. I have never met another nurse who takes her vocation as a nurse educator as seriously and compassionately as Lisa. I am a better nurse and person for knowing her. Please consider her for this award. She is so selfless, and she truly deserves this!
Without Lisa's commitment to school nursing, I wouldn't be the school nurse that I am. Her guidance while I was in college helped me to develop my love of school nursing and to make it my career. Her endless dedication and concern for her students and the school community at large is apparent. From overseeing the development of health related policies to providing continual education to her colleagues and the students, to showing empathetic care at all times- she is the epitome of what an exemplary school nurse is.
Mrs. Lisa Pace is one of the most compassionate, empathetic, and patient school nurses I have worked with in my 30+ years in education. She serve as our district pandemic coordinator for all things COVID/nursing related. She continues to provide guidance to our families and staff in lay terms to help our families understand the ever changing guidelines from the CDC, PA DoE and DOH relating to COVID. Her attention to detail has resulted in our county health department using the contact tracing form she created with the 42+ school districts in southwestern PA. The countless hours that Mrs. Pace works in the evening and on weekends, taking away time from her own family, goes above and beyond what is expected. Parents are happy receiving calls from the nurse regarding their children's need to isolate or quarantine. She has experienced significant backlash from frustrated parents but continues to advise and guide as the consummate professional. Our students and families are in great hands with Mrs. Pace serving as our nursing department leader, colleague, and friend.
