Jenn Strock was nominated by her principal, Thomas Warren Jr.

"Where do I begin with the best nurse I have ever worked with? I will start by saying no words can adequately do Jenn Strock justice. I will still do my best. Four words come to mind when attempting to summarize why Jenn is such a phenomenal school nurse; caring, knowledgeable, efficient, and ethical," said Warren.

Because of the nature of the position and how many students are seen throughout the course of a day, often times, nurses must have quick conversations with students, staff, and parents. It can be difficult balancing speed over one-on-one attention. Somehow, Ms. Strock makes everyone feel as if they are the most important person in the room. Her smile, tone of voice, eye contact, and demeanor is very welcoming. When speaking with Mrs. Strock, you feel like you are the only person she has spoken with all day. It doesn't matter that she might have five other students waiting, parents at the front door, or a bunch of contact tracing to do. When a child comes to her door, a parent calls her on the phone, or a staff member asks her a question, she always cares for the individual and provides support.

Mrs. Strock is extremely knowledgeable. She had a wealth of experience before coming to Forks Elementary School. She has worked as a registered nurse, care manager, family-based mental health professional, outreach educator, and a court advocate for domestic violence victims. As new situations arise at school, she will conduct research, reach out to doctors, and peers in her profession. She will never say she has all of the answers, but she'll research and find out an answer to clarify or address a situation. Through conversations with her, you feel the excitement she has when discovering new information that will help students and families.

Mrs. Strock uses her experiences and education to provide students with appropriate care. Her knowledge provides her school's child study team with a tremendous amount of guidance in order for them to create and implement plans to care for students. Staff members also lean on Mrs. Strock to provide them with information about their own personal health and challenges.

Mrs. Strock is always thinking of ways to improve her craft and be more efficient. She knows the more efficient she is, the more time she has to interact with students, staff, and parents. She is constantly asking questions on how certain things work. Sometimes, you wonder how her questions tie into her field of expertise. As she is obtaining more information, all of a sudden, you realize why she is asking certain questions. Then, you realize her question and answer made a situation/process better and/or more efficient.

"Jenn has the highest ethical standards of anyone I know," said Warren. "Jenn stands up for what she believes in, researches and educates others on proper care, and is not afraid to educate her superiors, especially those with no medical background. She always keeps the safety of her students in the forefront in everything she does."

"Jenn Strock is one of the most upbeat and kindest people I know. It is a privilege to work with her every day. Our staff love how caring and respectful she is to our students and staff. Whatever issues arise during the day, it is so refreshing to have her amazing attitude and supportive nature. She is a true leader in her field, and she impacts the positive environment of our school every day. Jenn has made a difference in our lives, and for our students, she is the top of her field. Our school is a safer place because of all the hard work Jenn Strock puts in. We are very fortunate to have her," said Warren.

We met Nurse Jenn last year when my son was diagnosed with a cardiac issue. He required close monitoring and frequent medication adjustments in the beginning, which was a little overwhelming for us. However, Nurse Jenn helped us feel so much more comfortable sending him to school knowing she was there to watch over him. She was in constant contact with us and always gave helpful, informative updates on his condition at school. This allowed us to work as a team with his cardiologist to figure out the next steps for his care. Whether it was the ingenious way she helped us figure out how to get his cardiac monitor to stay on all day, the way she got him to take his medication at school without issues, or the times she had to step in to give him urgent care; we knew she was watching him closely and would be able to provide the best possible care. She certainly is a life changer for our family. She has so many other students to look after, but she always went above and beyond to help our son and it seems she does that for all her students. Forks Elementary is very lucky to have Nurse Jenn!

As your mom, I have always been proud of you and admired your thirst for knowledge. Most people don't know the long, educational journey you took to become the dedicated, well informed, compassionate and caring school nurse you are, today. Having a Master's degree in Child and Adolescent Therapy, you worked in an elementary school based Health Clinic. Desiring to know more about the medical conditions and to help you understand the struggles your "clients" had, you went on to get your Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Your combined degrees led you to continue your education and become a Certified School Nurse. You wanted to help children medically and emotionally. Years ago, I gave you a sign that stated, "If I could give you one thing, it would be the ability to see yourself through others' eyes". Principal Warren's nomination and the comments made have given you that ability! CONGRATULATIONS on the acknowledgement and appreciation you've received on doing your best in a job you love.

We are so thankful for Nurse Jenn! It is so encouraging to have a nurse that I know truly cares for our kids. Whenever we receive a phone call about one of our kids she is positive, reassuring, and kind. When I approached her at the beginning of the year about my son’s new diagnosis she took the time to listen and make sure I knew that he would be in good hands during the school day if he were to need medical attention. I feel so confident that my kids are getting not only loving attention when they need it, but great medical care as well because of Nurse Jenn!

Nurse Jenn is such a wonderful addition to the Forks Falcons family! She is a kind, smart and gentle person who provides such great care to the children at Forks Elementary School. My daughter has visited Nurse Jenn a few times now for various ailments and she always provides such good care. She is great about informing families of any concerns and goes above and beyond to take care of the children. We feel so blessed to have her at Forks and hope she will be there for many years to come!

Nurse Jenn IS an actual Life Changer for our child each and every day. Our son has Type 1 Diabetes which means we literally put his little life into her very hands. We have been a Type 1 family for over a decade, and have had the pleasure of working alongside some wonderful nurses throughout the years, but Nurse Jenn is truly a cut above. For parents like us that have the weight of such special needs on our shoulders it truly is Life Changing to have someone come alongside you to not only care for your child physically, but to support him emotionally, go so far as to support YOU, AND help advocate for your child when needed. Nurse Jenn goes so far beyond the call of duty and is the true definition of a Life Changer.

I've had the pleasure of knowing Jenn for more than 15 years, and calling her a family member for the last 5. I have watched her grow and develop her professional skills through hard work and diligent study. Her capacity for compassion and empathy is almost boundless, as evidenced by the good will and rapport she develops with the students in her charge. She is a capable and knowledgeable professional.

We have have come to know Nurse Jenn because our child has a very rare GI disorder. Nurse Jenn has taken the time to research, understand and teach others about the disorder. She has done her best to ensure that Forks Elementary is a safe and supportive environment for both of our children. She has made her colleagues feel knowledgeable and my husband and I, comfortable sending them to school each day. We are blessed to have you as “Our Nurse!” Thank you for all you do, Nurse Jenn! Nurse Jenn…… all we can say is wow! She takes care of my Harper everyday, Harper is a Type 1 Diabetic and not a day goes by that she doesn’t put Harper and her needs first. She is absolutely the best, always there when Harper needs her and goes above and beyond in her care and concern. Jenn adores Harper and we adore her. There’s never a day where I don’t feel like Harper is safe, loved, and cared for when she’s with Jenn. Thank you Nurse Jenn for being you…… you have definitely been our life changer!!!!!! Love, The Miller’s Alyssia, Mike and Harper

I worked with Jen Strock when she was the school nurse at Dieruff High School. I felt the same way about Jen as her principal does. She is passionate about her job, and she loves the students. She made everyone in our building feel important and special. She went out of her way to make sure we led healthy lives; I could go to her for advice anytime. Students raved about her, and they would stop by just to visit her because of her positive and caring attitude. I can’t say enough about Jen Strock as a school nurse and as a person who values health. Jen is a school nurse who is never “off duty.” She is very worthy of this honor.

Jenn is our niece and we are not surprised by the accolades from Mr. Warren. She is truly a wonderful person. We love her deeply and congratulate her on her success.

Mary Paine, RN Posted over a year ago

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Warren! I had the pleasure of working directly with Jenn for 2 years before I retired. She is one of the most knowledgeable, curious, ethical, kind, helpful nurses that I know. She always puts her school children first and does not hesitate to teach them and their parents what needs to be done to maintain good health.

Jenn is really this awesome… and more so! Through her own health issues she continued with all that she had to do with work and reminded us (fellow staff members) that self-care is as important as caring for others.
